Domenikos Theotokopoulos, known as “El Greco” was born in 1541 in Cardía, on the island of Crete and died in 1614 in Toledo (Spain). He was a late Renaissance painter who developed a very personal style in his mature works. He trained in his native island as icon painter before moving to Venice, where he met Tiziano and Tintoretto, artists, along with Michelangelo, were most influenced his painting. BIOGRAPHY OF GRECO
The most important work of the Greco is the: El entierro del Conde Orgaz. Characteristics: The figures are deformed to be more expressive, the point of symmetry is no longer in the center of the box but to the side and up, the colors are cold range. PRINCIPAL WORK
