1 INSTRUCTION ON HVBMU CONNECTION & DEBUGGING Domestic Engineering Department of Engineering System

2 Instruction on Main Functions and Application Range High voltage battery monitor unit HVBMU can either monitor the cell voltage of up to 50 UPS batteries, or monitor the indication temperature of 8 UPS batteries and the charging/discharging current of 2 UPS batteries. HVBMU is used for monitoring of UPS battery sets in real time. It can be either directly connected to the front PC via RS422/RS232 communication interface, or connected to the front PC through the connection to the transparent interface or order wire channel of the RS422/RS232 communication interface of this module. The high voltage battery monitor unit HVBMU is applicable for monitoring the large-sized UPS battery sets in telecom companies, mobile communication companies and government departments.

3 Currently Used Versions and Their Appearance Hardware version is Version A is the version mainly used before Version B is the currently used version. Please pay attention to the appearance. The wire connection sequence and debugging will be different depending on different appearance, as figures above. Figure 1 is version A, and Figure 2 is version B. Figure 1 Figure 2

4 HVBMU Wiring Instruction on Battery End This wire connection instruction is to make out as per two versions, taking 30 batteries for example. Based on art and crafts requirements, battery clip should be connected to the most top of the extend connection wire of battery. Only connecting on top can ensure the normal work of battery, as Figure 3 。 Based on art and crafts requirements, battery monitoring wire should be added with a fuse, as Figure 4. Figure 3Figure 4

5 HVBMU Wiring Instruction on Communication Terminal and Power Supply Terminal Figure 5 Figure 6 Figure 7 Figure 5 is the factual picture of connection of power supply and communication terminals. Figure 6 is the wiring definition of communication terminal X2. Figure 7 is the wiring definition of power supply terminal X4.

6 Wire Connection Instruction of Version A For the X5 terminals of battery monitoring wire which are connected to HVBMU, the upper row terminals are C1-C27, the lower row terminals are A1-A27. Start connection from negative end. Connect A1 to the negative end of the1st battery, connect C1 to the positive end of the 1st battery, A2 to positive end of the 2 nd battery, C2 to positive end of 3 rd battery, connect them like this till C13. C13 should be short-circuited to A15. Leave A14 and C14 as null. Then from C15, connect as normal sequence till C18, C18-A19-C19-C20, short connect to the end as per this sequence. Figure 8 is the wiring diagram of cell voltage signal input interface X5. Figure 8

7 Wire Connection Instruction of Version B For the X5 terminals of battery monitoring wire which are connected to HVBMU, the upper row terminals are C1-C27, the lower row terminals are A1-A27. Start connection from negative end. Connect A1 to the negative end of the1st battery, connect C1 to the positive end of the 1st battery, A2 to positive end of the 2nd battery, C2 to positive end of 3rd battery, connect them like this till C5. short-circuit A1 to A15. short-circuit C5-A6-C6-A7 to C13, Leave A14 and C14 as null. Then from C15, connect as normal sequence till C26, C26-A27-C27 short-circuit. Figure 9 Figure 9 is the wiring diagram of cell voltage signal input interface X5
