Difference between Google Air and Hangout
Hangout Up to 10 people (classrooms or individual students from different locations Not taped Need an invite to attend and watch Hangout on Air Taped and aired on Youtube Can set up privacy features, but the world could have access to it if you don’t set this up correctly. Unlimited people can watch it and be a part of it.
Differences Between Skype and Google Hangout Google Hangout – Up to 10 classes or students at a time. Can be used for one on one book talks. More people on a call = more background noise. Skype Need to pay to have more than 1 other person on a call. Great for one on one book talks
Setting up Expectations with Students Teach students how to use hangouts as a class. Set up expectations as a class using the following format.
After the Visit 1. Chart favorite books and authors. 2. Compare different countries and their favorite books and authors. 3. Challenge students to read a book that another student from another country read.
