5 What subjects do we want to have? (Topic #1 and #2 Group Discussion) Model 1. One subject for all of EES with many majors (inriktningar). Model 2. One subject for each institution (3) with the same majors but distributed to appropriate. Model 3. Reduce the number of subjects (mainly implication for S3). Model 4. No change.

6 New standard form for Study Plans (Studieplan för ämne). A standard form (mall) has now finally been approved by FN. Action Plan: 1.Decide which subjects should be included in EES. 2.Rewrite the Study Plans following the standard form. 3.EES approve and send to FN.

7 What are the changes that you should be aware of resulting from the new organisation? Practical procedural routines. Send things to EES kansli, Forskarutb, Osquldasv 10 IV. (EES now has its own administration office for graduate studies.) Most information can be found in: KTH Handboken II under Forskarutbildning (Sections 21 to 26) KTH Blankettarkivet

8 What are the changes (cont.)? Stricter monitoring of transferred courses included in the study plan for a student (tillgodoräknande). Previously the advisor made the decision. Now FA makes the decision. What are the implications? 1.We need a procedure. Guidelines for transferred credits should be included in the Subject Study Plan. Should EES have a general policy for transferred courses? Either a maximum for transferred courses or a minimum for KTH courses. (Topic #3 Group Discussion)

9 Graduate study rectors for the different institutions in EES S3 Elling Jacobsen ETS Mehrdad Ghandari Alfven LabJan Scheffel

10 Some reminders to advisors to help things run smoothly Admission approved by local prefect except for applicants outside EU or from ”uncertain” schools in which case an investigation the applicant’s eligibility is required. First Individual Study Plan required within 6 months. Rememember the 6-week count-down for an application for a PhD thesis defence or a Lic seminar. The current term ”ends” Dec 13 equals last day for Phd Defence. Last day to apply for PhD defence date, Nov. 1. I will always ask about conflict of interest (jäv) for Lic seminar opponent, Ph D thesis opponent and committee. The Last Individual Study plan must have a course list that agrees with reported courses in Ladok.
