USVI Outreach & Education – Don’t Stop Talking Fish Celebration June 28 – NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program’s Reef Smart project’s 2014 Nancy Foster mapping mission outreach session in Fredericksted, St. Croix on March 24. Included activities for managers, fishers and STEM K-12 students and teachers.

Sustainable Seafood Campaign: – workshops held with restaurants on March 24 and 29 and outreach event called “Taste of St. Croix”. 10 restaurants branded Reef Responsible. Fuete y Verguilla St. Croix
O & E Activities Update (cont.) PR Commercial Fisheries Project (PEPCO) – Funding is needed to expand the Project to other areas. Marine Resources Education Program (MREP) – Steering committee formed

A total number of 179 participants completed the course. Participants evaluated the program and rated it mostly between excellent – good. Among the recommendations provided were to offer the course more frequently and at various fish villas. Follow up meeting scheduled for the end of April with the DNER Fisheries Lab. Requests from other villas. Will continue to offer the course around the island.
