MEASURABLE, MEANINGFUL RESULTS EXPERIENCE CORPS WORKS WITH STUDENTS WHO HAVE THE GREATEST NEED, TEACHING ONE OF THE MOST CRITICAL SKILLS TO LEARN AND PRODUCING
TUTORS IMPROVE YOUNG STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION ONE OF THE TOUGHEST SKILLS TO AFFECT IN STRUGGLING READERS EXPERIENCE CORPS
After one year, STUDENTS WITH EXPERIENCE CORPS TUTORS MADE OVER 60 PERCENT MORE PROGRESS in two critical literacy skills—sounding out new words and reading comprehension— compared to similar students not served by the program.
Half of all students who are referred to Experience Corps struggle with reading so much that they are AT OR BELOW THE 16 TH PERCENTILE for reading nationwide.
Almost all students referred to Experience Corps are LOW-INCOME CHILDREN OF COLOR.
One in four uses ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE.
Experience Corps delivers significant results for students REGARDLESS OF ETHNICITY, GRADE, CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR, OR ENGLISH PROFICIENCY.

AS AN INTERVENTION, EXPERIENCE CORPS IS COST EFFECTIVE AND WELCOMED BY TEACHERS EXPERIENCE CORPS
Teachers overwhelmingly rate EXPERIENCE CORPS AS BENEFICIAL TO STUDENTS, while reporting that it represents little or no burden to them.
Office referrals for CLASSROOM MISBEHAVIOR DECREASED by about half in schools with Experience Corps teams, but stayed the same in control groups.

Experience Corps members serve as mentors and role models who REFLECT THE DIVERSITY of the students they engage.
MEMBERS BENEFIT FROM IMPROVED PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SOCIAL WELL-BEING EXPERIENCE CORPS
Compared with adults of similar age, demographics, and volunteer history, Experience Corps tutors reported IMPROVEMENTS IN MENTAL HEALTH AND PHYSICAL FUNCTIONING, including mobility, stamina, and flexibility.
Experience Corps members also reported a significant DECREASE IN LEVELS OF DEPRESSION and functional limitation, INCREASED THEIR CIRCLE OF FRIENDS, and maintained overall health longer.
