1
Design To produce a plan, simulation or model Example: Design a simple circuit with three light bulbs

2
Determine Find the only possible answer Example: Determine the slope of line. Slope = rise / run Slope = (y 2 – y 1 ) / (x 2 – x 1 ) = (4.0 – 3.0) / (6.0 – 4.0) = 1.0 / 2.0 = 0.5 m/s 2

3
Discuss Give an account including, where possible, a range of arguments for and against the relative importance or alternative hypotheses. A.K.A. You are asked to talk fairly about both sides of an argument. Next you must explain why one choice is better than the other.

4
Evaluate Assess the implications and limitations Example: An owner must evaluate the decision to use a website to market designer clothes rather than using a brochure. Dress-2- Impress

5
Solve Obtain an answer using algebraic and/or numerical methods This really means to use math to answer the problem. Example: Solve for the hypotenuse of the triangle. 3 ? 4 A 2 + B 2 = C 2 (4) 2 + (3) 2 = C 2 16 + 9 = C 2 25 = C 2 5 = C

6
Suggest Propose a hypothesis or other possible answer. Example: Suggest how you would know when water reaches a steady boil. Possible answers: 1.when the temperature has stopped increasing. 2.when there is a continuous flow of bubbles.

7
Sketch Represent by means of a graph showing a line and labeled but unscaled axes, but with important features clearly shown.

8
Show Give the steps in a calculation or derivation. A.K.A. Show your work to receive credit

9
Explain Give an detailed account of causes, reason, or mechanism. Explain to me how to you how made the ice cream. First, I combined the mix with milk and placed it in a glass jar. Next, the jar was placed in a salt-ice bath in a large plastic container I then rolled the container for about two hours making sure to replace melted salt- ice mixture. Finally, the ice cream was ready to eat.

10
Predict Give an expected result. Example: Predict what will happen when a Mentos® candy is dropped into diet soda Predict: The soda will shoot out of the bottle upward.
