What did you like about the Distance Learning experience? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Meeting new teachers and viewing their different teaching methods. Watching the students participate with each other from different schools. This is my 5th year working in DL. It has been a positive experience for many years and again this year. Offers otherwise unavailable course. Nice opportunity for students to interact with other schools. I liked having a dedicated student who really worked hard and was absolutely no discipline problem. The variety of courses and students. The curriculum is challenging and in most cases so are the students.

What did you dislike about the Distance Learning experience? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Occasional sound problems. At times it was difficult adjusting the volume and it has a lot of background noise. The host site teacher is not always available to answer student questions. A lack of supervision for students in some schools. The unnecessary talking of students to each other when a teacher is conducting class. Very rude. You hear everything. At the other sites if the students became loud you did not have control of it, this was a problem sometimes. The teacher in ---- hardly ever acknowledges our student or me; doesn't say hello or goodbye, etc. I didn’t like when classes’ vacation times weren’t scheduled the same.

Very helpful and friendly. I felt very comfortable. Everyone was helpful. Always answered on the first ring too! 4. Did you feel comfortable calling the DL toll free number for technical support? All responses said,“Yes, I did.” Comments:

I liked how they always called back to make sure everything was running correctly. They went out of their way to get the problem fixed as soon as possible. The support team was always there to help me get through the tough times. Very satisfied! Absolutely! As always quick response, always had the answer. Any technical problems were dealt with quickly and efficiently. 5. Were you satisfied with the assistance of the BOCES support team? All responded,“Yes, I was satisfied.” Comments:

What changes would you offer to improve the DL program? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Visit from teacher at least one time to meet the kids. When you do scheduling, try not to put us with schools so far away. It makes it hard when the teacher has to go visit. Getting the students together early in the year so they will interact better. I would like to see more AP and higher level courses offered. Teachers should fax all notes or tests before the class, not at the last minute, if possible. Make sure we are on the same school calendar and bell schedule for classes.

General Comments ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Teachers should use e-mail to send assignments. Aides need to communicate more. A prep period for aides is essential. Have a DL meeting for aides over the summer. We could discuss ideas and exchange information. Host teacher needs to call on his or her remote students more often. I liked using the technology that was offered and I think I learned quite a bit about using it, but could use much more training. This is my 3rd or 4th year of doing Distance Learning. I feel you have one of the best support teams. They are always there for me at any time! I have also found e-mail helpful to communicate with teachers at other sites.
