What did you like about the Distance Learning experience? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Diversity, new people, interesting classes. Seeing the students receive college credits while going to high school. That we were able to receive two new courses this year. Working with a new teacher. The aides, the teachers. Everything! It gave our students a chance to experience a new class and a great teacher. Overall I would like to say I like being a part of the distance learning experience enabling different schools, students and staff to interact. I enjoy working with the kids and teachers that are part of the DL network and meeting new people from other areas. It is also great to see the kids come out of their shells and to interact with their new teachers and peers.

What did you dislike about the Distance Learning experience? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ The font on the notes that the teacher put on Elmo was very small, size 14 font works well, students kept hitting microphones with their materials. The teacher frequently spoke when away from the microphone and it was difficult if not impossible to hear. Some teachers have a hard time keeping all students interested and on task. Difficulty with students following rules at each site. Students getting up and walking out of the classroom without prior permission. Attendance issues, inappropriate language over the system, cell phones morse code sound. Rivalry between the schools, rudeness of students, eating and downloading at the DL sites. Everything went quite smoothly this year, so, no complaints! Nothing to dislike, "Great Program.“ Nada!!

The staff are always very kind and helpful in a very timely fashion. Are your joking?? Eileen and Bob are my best friends forever!! Thanks for ALL your help!! Eileen is very helpful, so is Bob You guys are great! Definitely! 4. Did you feel comfortable calling the DL toll free number for technical support? All responses said,“Yes, I did.” Comments:

Were you satisfied with the assistance of the BOCES support team? All responded,“Yes, I was satisfied.” Comments: Absolutely! Eileen, Bob and Chuck are always helpful!! Absolutely. Very much so. Definitely!

What changes would you offer to improve the DL program? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Have teachers, teachers assistants and aides use whenever possible for any correspondence in the classroom including memos regarding schedules, tests, quizzes, notes, projects, etc. I believe this would eliminate missing/lost correspondence via fax. It would be wonderful if everyone followed the rules given at the beginning of the year. Example: iPods, all phones or constant chatter from staff or students. Limit computer access to students during class time. The students tend to go on the computers for other reasons then doing class work. Each school has different period times. Universal ones would help. Also the volume is usually too loud coming from the other schools and you constantly have to adjust. Especially if they show a film etc. Try to switch up the schedule each year. Variety is the key in the DL and it is nice to try new courses. See if we could connect with a school in the capital region BOCES or a different area in order to see about receiving new courses. Nothing on your end. You are very professional, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful.

General Comments ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Teachers should try to visit the receive sites more often. Add a sentence to the DL contract about cell phones and attendance. The aide and teachers need to try and watch the students better for misuse of DL equipments (student camera) putting feet on desk. See if someone could get the district to install air conditioning. Without AC all we have is problems. Much time was wasted as the students easily talked the teacher into getting off topic. Thank you for all of your help this year!
