4 A.SIMPLE SENTENCE We may use sentences in any forms : 1.Demonstrating something This is an orange These are grapes That is an apple 2.Sampling and Guiding  - My book is expensive. (Buku saya mahal.)  -The bags are very old. (Tas- tas ini sangat tua.)  -Your classroom is that one. (Ruang kelasmu yang itu.) 3.Simple instruction -Open the door! (Buka pintunya!) -Get the long pencil!(Ambil pensil yang panjang!) -Bring me an umbrella!(Bawakan aku sebuah payung!)

5 Group Work Instruction: Make a group of 4-5. There are some puzzles of words different each group. Your work with your group is to arrange those words into good sentences. After arranging all words into good sentences, ask the other group to check your group’s work and exchange the word puzzles with that other group to do it again. Don’t forget to write them in your book. 6 B.Dialogue  Dialogue is a conversation between two or more people talking about something. The example of dialogue in any situation: Dialogue in the classroom: Adi : Good morning, Tom. Tom : Good morning, Adi. Have you finished the assignment for tomorrow? Adi : Not yet. I have some difficulties on it. Tom : Me, too. What about doing discussion about it after class? Adi : That’s a good idea. See you after class then. Tom : See you.

7 Dialogue ON the street Mark : Hi, Jane. How are you? Jane : Hi, Mark. I’m fine, thanks. And yourself? Mark : I’m fine, too. Where are you going? Jane : I’m going to go supermarket to buy some fruits. What about you? Mark : I’m going to go office. Sorry Jane, I’m in hurry. I have to go now. See you. Jane : No problem. See you.

8 Now, choose your partner and perform this dialogue in front of the class ! This is a dialogue between Ann and Diane talking about their weekend….. Ann : Hi, Diane. How are you ? Diane : I’m fine, thank you. And yourself ? Ann : I’m very well. How was your weekend ? Diane : That was great. I visited a new zoo in the centre of the city with my mom. Ann : Wow, did you ? What animals did you find there ? Diane : Many kinds. They are tigers, lions, giraffes, elephants, crocodiles, many kinds of birds, etc. And you know, I rode a white horse for a cheap cost. Just by paying Rp. 30.000, I could see the view around the zoo. Ann : That was such a nice experience. Will you accompany me to go there next holiday ? Diane : My pleasure, Ann. Just call me then. Ann : Thanks Diane. Sorry, I have to go now. See you. Diane : OK, see you.

9 Answer this questions orally … (based on the dialogue) 1.Who are the persons in the dialogue ? 2.What are they talking about ? 3.Where did Diane spend her weekend ? 4.What does Ann ask Diane to do next holiday ? 5.Now, make a simple dialogue with your own topic !

10 C. Short Functional Message Short functional message is a written message which is made briefly. It is sent for family or friends in situations where e-mails or text messages are not suitable. One example of short functional message is calledMEMO. Example : when Rita arrives in her house, she finds a memo from her mother in the doorstep. The memo is like this: MEMO To : Rita From : Mother Rita, i will come home late because i have to visit grandma. You can get your lunch in the dining table. Don’t forget to inform daddy to pick me up at 6 With love mama.

11 t Try to answer the questions below based on the memo text above ! 1. To whom the memo is sent ? 2.From whom the memo is sent ? 3.What is the relationship between Martha and John? 4.What is the message inside the memo ? 5.Why will martha come home late ? MEMO To : John From : Martha John, please buy me an envelope and stamp because tonight I will send a letter for uncle. Put them in my bedroom. I will come home late because i should go to station. Your sister Martha

12 INDIVIDUAL WORK Choose one of the situations below and make a memo based on the situation that you choose.  Situations: A.You want to ask your younger sister to buy some medicine because of your illness. B.You need to borrow your friend’s book to learn about one of the subjects in your lecturing. C.You want to ask your friend to meet you soon because you have to discuss some assignments.
