Proposed Criteria for Reviewing Single Technical Assistance/Dissemination Projects Purpose of this session: –To get advice on the set of criteria to be used in considering Technical Assistance/Dissemination Projects to be the focus of FCR-STEM work

Individual work (20 minutes): –Briefly skim the TA/dissemination proposals –Rate three of the proposals using the Individual Rating Forms Table 1: Proposals 1, 2, 3 Table 2: Proposals 4, 5, 6 Table 3: Proposals 2, 4, 6 Table 4: Proposals 1, 3, 5 –List additional criteria you considered in making your recommendation

Small Group work (25 minutes) –Discuss your recommendations for each of the three proposals your table rated –Note reasons for any differences (interpreting criteria differently, etc.)

Individual work (5 minutes): –Complete the Individual Recommendation Form Small Group work (15 minutes) –Discuss your recommendations for each criterion using the Group Consensus Recommendation form (keep, remove) –Post your groups recommendations on the charts in the front of the room

Proposed Criteria for Technical Assistance/Dissemination Portfolio Criteria to aid in determining the set of projects to be the focus of FCR-STEM work

Proposed Criteria for Research Portfolio 1.Balance (a) TA/dissemination provided by entities with existing capacity, with (b) TA/dissemination activities that involve mechanisms for building the capacity of other TA/dissemination providers in Florida. 2.Involve Florida school districts which vary in geography and demographics. 3.Include a proper balance of TA/dissemination across content areas (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and across grade levels. 4.Include some TA/dissemination efforts with research components investigating effective TA/dissemination strategies. 5.Balance development of new TA resources with dissemination of existing TA resources. 6.Address the priority needs and interests of the full range of stakeholders.

Small Group Task After individually reviewing the portfolio criteria, discuss the following questions: –Assuming there are more highly rated TA/dissemination efforts than there are resources to carry out, what criteria should be considered in deciding the set of TA/dissemination projects which should be the focus of FCR-STEM work? –Which three criteria do you consider to be most important in deciding the set of TA/dissemination projects which should be the focus of FCR-STEM work? At the end of your discussion, you will be asked to circle the three most important criteria in deciding the set of projects to be the focus of FCR-STEM work.
