Research & Development Initiative Ultranet Focus on Teaching and Learning Transparent nature allows teachers to share ideas more easily Helps to build a a stronger sense of learning community In turn, a stronger learning community with a focus on learning and teaching leads to much more purposeful teaching. Coupled with greater transparency of the classroom this leads to higher expectations.

Research & Development Initiative Ultranet Real Time Knowledge Traditionally Post time information ie: curriculum is planned, taught and assessed. Reporting takes place at the end of the semester. Value is minimal because feedback arrives after the learning has taken place The Ultranet Connects all learning activities directly to the outcomes providing real time feedback.

Research & Development Initiative Ultranet Research and Evaluation The Assessment Research Centre at the University of Melbourne is undertaking the evaluation of the implementation of the Ultranet in pilot schools. The Assessment Research Centre is directed by Professor Patrick Griffin, an internationally recognised specialist in measurement, assessment, profile development and implementation, psychometrics, statistical analysis and survey design. The University of Melbourne is a leading Australian institution for research and development and ranks in the worlds top 20 universities.

Research & Development Initiative Ultranet Evaluation Outcomes Assessment of the pilot implementation phase Identification of opportunities for continuous improvement Provision of advice and strategies for roll out

Research & Development Initiative Ultranet BENEFITS PORTFOLIO Allow targeted intervention Strategic use of limited resources Level of fit to the Enterprise Scalable

Research & Development Initiative Ultranet BENEFITS THE SCHOOL SYSTEM Have access to accurate and real time data on: – student attendance –student achievement –time spent in key learning areas –activities undertaken in school –teacher professional development –use of digital resources This data will facilitate strategic planning and more informed allocation of resources

Research & Development Initiative Ultranet BENEFITS SCHOOLS Using data from a range of sources, has the capacity to readily identify issues and design appropriate interventions Effectively monitor, measure and evaluate programmes using real-time and longitudinal data

Research & Development Initiative Ultranet BENEFITS STUDENTS Can access classroom activities and resources anywhere, anytime Greater opportunity for collaboration, reflection and personal interaction with their teacher Greater emphasis on their learning and more opportunity to reflect on progress

Research & Development Initiative Ultranet BENEFITS TEACHERS Better understanding of their students Collaborate more effectively with colleagues Greater transparency Fosters and environment where knowledge base is captured, organised, shared and utilised Builds the organisations knowledge base

Research & Development Initiative Ultranet BENEFITS PARENTS Gain a much richer and timely insight into their child’s progress Can receive regular feedback on how their child is progressing Can follow activities and the interactions with teachers and peers that their child is undertaking at school
