2 Introduction We are very lucky to have all kinds of amazing musicians in New Brunswick! Today we will look at just a few of the great musicians that grace our beautiful province. Question: Do you know any musicians who live in or are from New Brunswick?

3 Matt Anderson Matt Anderson is a singer-songwriter from Perth-Andover, NB. He took up guitar at 14, taking cues from his favorite Jazz artists, such as Eric Clapton and BB King. He debuted with 2002’s One Size Never Fits, and followed with his second CD, Solo at Session (2004) and Live at Liberty House (2005). After playing the 2004 East Coast Music Awards, Matt continued to gain fans. He signed with Busted Flat Records for a string of albums.

4 Matt Anderson continued… By 2009 Matt completed his fourth tour of the UK, where The Times called him “Canada’s greatest guitarist.” In 2010 he became the first Canadian to win Memphis’s International Blues Challenge. Matt’s newest album, Coal Mining Blues, was produced in Woodstock, New York. Matt performs over 200 shows a year and in 2011 won the Maple Blues Awards for Entertainer of the Year and Acoustic Act of the Year and was nominated for four East Coast Music Association awards. http://vimeo.com/6699503

6 Mia Martina Mia Martina is a Canadian singer who grew up in Saint-Ignace, New Brunswick. When she was 18, she moved to Ottawa to go to Carlton University. While at university she became an intern at a local label, CP Records. Mia Martina's first single release was a cover version of Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina’s "Stereo Love”. It reached number 10 in the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 in November 2010. "Stereo Love” has reached platinum sales and earned a nomination for Dance Single of the year at the 2011 Juno Awards.

7 Mia Martina continued… The trilingual singer followed up with "Latin Moon" in August, 2011 which reached gold sales and was re-released in French and Spanish. The original version was nominated in the Dance/Urban/Rhythmic at the 2012 Canadian Radio Music Awards. Mia's debut album Devotion was released in 2011 and reached number 77 on the Canadian Albums Chart. The album earned a Dance Recording of the year at 2012 Juno Awards and World Recording of the Year for the 2012 East Coast Music Awards. 9 Keith Hallett Keith Hallett is a blues guitarist and singer from Hanwell, NB. He began playing music when he was 13 or 14 years old and said he was encouraged to make music because he didn’t like what he heard on the radio – he liked 60’s blues music. Keith draws many of his influences from influential blues guitarists such as Jerry Garcia and Jimi Hendrix.

10 Keith Hallett continued.. Hallett gained popularity while he was still just a teenager in New Brunswick. Hallett began playing shows all over New Brunswick and eventually in different Canadian and American cities. In 2011 Hallett released his first album, “I Just Lost my Mind”. During the last few years, Hallett has spent quite a bit of time on the road, touring all over North America in an RV with his band. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/keithhallett2

12 Measha Brueggergosman Measha Bruggergosman is a singer from Fredericton, New Brunswick, who performs both as an opera singer and concert artist. She has performed internationally and won numerous awards. Her recordings of both classical and popular music have also received many awards.

13 Measha Brueggergosman continued… Measha performed the Olympic Hymn at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Games. She stunned audiences with her talent when she performed an arrangement of the English sung version of the hymn in English and French to reflect Canada's official languages. 15 Andy Brown Andy Brown is a singer-songwriter from Woodstock, New Brunswick. His hit song 'Ashes' was featured in season 2 of Rookie Blue, and only a couple of hours after the episode, Brown’s song and album landed #1 on iTunes Canada’s singer-songwriter chart and the melancholy love song reached #2 on the chart in the United States.

16 Andy Brown continued… Andy has released two CDs and has one several awards during the last few years. 'Crazy', the first single from the album has landed Brown as a finalist in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition, was scooped up by 100+ radio stations across the country.
