Overall objective To provide a solid evidence base in support of the European Commission in their efforts to identifiy and formulate directions and actions for Horizon April 20142RECREATE

Evidence Base Data collection and analysis Impact asessement forward-looking perspective for a transition managment strategy that: – links and looks at trade-offs and synergies between (1) Climate Change, (2) Resource Efficiency and (3) Raw Materials – engages key stakeholders – has a perspective also beyond January 20143RECREATE

Specific objectives Create, launch and manage a stakeholder network Develop and monitor indicators for assessing the impact (policy, economy, society, sustainability) of EU research and innovation programmes Analyse technological, policy and market developments as well as policies and programmes as a basis for forward-looking activities Produce quantitative and qualitative briefings with R&I information, trends and strategic opitions for EU research managers and policy makers 23 April 20144RECREATE

RECREATE Workflow 22 January 20149RECREATE

Three project phases 23 April RECREATE

Methodological priorities (WP2) 1.Selecting indicators and defining RECREATE’s Impact Assessment approach – More than 200 indicators selected – A qualitative, case-based approach to IA was defined 23 April RECREATE

2. Structuring a Scoreboard for the RECREATE focus areas 22 January RECREATE

3. Defining RECREATE’s approach to trend analysis Framework for identifying and categorizing trends Steps defined for creating and testing hypotheses about trends’ implications for RECREATE/SC5 22 January RECREATE

4: Describe the components and steps in RECREATE’s Forward-Looking Analysis Overall framework elaborated: nested systems in transition, viewed through Multi-Level Perspective 22 January RECREATE

5: Ensuring alignment between the various methods and analyses Shared conceptual system model elaborated Common (wiki) glossary of terms Common (wiki) list of data sources First elaborations of relevance of inter- linkages/synergies/trade-offs 22 January RECREATE

Looking ahead Setting up a network of stakeholders to help gather data and validate RECREATE outputs Producing 14 policy briefs (every 4 months) on forward looking analysis for EU research and innovation based on quantitative and qualitative analyses Target audience: research, industry, policy Various dissemination means and networks 23 April RECREATE

Today First stakeholder workshop (three to follow one per year) Reporting and validation on current stage of the project: methods defined, real work to start Active engagement and input will benefit all 22 January RECREATE
