1 Musical Figurative Language
By: Nilah Rojas

2 Simile Skyscraper- Demi Lovato
“Like I’m made of glass, like I’m made of paper” It’s a simile because shes using the word “like” and she compares herself to glass and paper; meaning she’s weak. Paper and glass break easily.

3 Metaphor Firework by Katy Perry “Baby, you’re a firework..”
This is a metaphor because she compares you to a firework; meaning be yourself and stand up for yourself and others. It doesn’t use “like” or “as”.

4 Alliteration Rockin’ Robin by Michael Jackson
“ Rockin’ Robin, rock, rock” Alliteration is the repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of words. These lyrics all start with a “r” at the beginning of each word.

5 Hyperbole Grenade by Bruno Mars
“I’d catch a grenade for you, throw my hand on a blade for you…” A hyperbole are exaggerated statements, not to be taken seriously. This was a hyperbole because he said he would ‘catch a grenade’. He just wants to say that he would do anything for her, but not for real.

6 Onomatopoeia Firework by Katy Perry
“Boom, Boom, Boom. Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon” This is a onomatopoeia because they use words associated with what is being said. In these lyrics the onomatopoeia is “boom, boom, boom”.

7 Imagery/Sensory Details
I’m Yours by Jason Mraz “I tried to be chill but you’re so hot that I melted; I felt right through the cracks, now I’m trying to get back” These lyrics were imagery/ sensory details because you can visualize what is going on during that time.
