Project Organization Overview SCS (Student Computer Services) is a division of ITS of Messiah College SCS is responsible for the installation and maintenance of computers on campus, including: Dorm Labs Apartment Labs Classrooms (Teacher Stations) Academic Labs (Including Computers in the Library, Lottie Dining Room, etc.) Offices are located in Frey Apartments on campus The Head of SCS, and our Point of Contact for this project is Berte Thompson SCS is made up primarily of work-study students from Messiah College Jeremiah is one of these work-study students, and therefore is the team Liaison for this project

3. Problem Statement (Current Setup) SCS has an inventory database that is incomplete and used infrequently. Most inventory is not tracked. When tracking exists, it is not consistent. Current Inventory Database Access database Used just by the head of SCS Stored Locally on 1 Computer Can only be accessed by one user at a time on one computer The data in it is incomplete Not kept up to date Current Problem Database Initiated by Student Request An icon on every lab computer has a problem form Problem is emailed to the head of SCS The problem report is added to a problem database This database allows SCS work-study students to see problems students have This database does not give inventory and does not give a problem history It just has options to show when the problem is solved An email can be sent to the student when problem is solved.

Project Objectives Complete and Concise Information Bank to Track Computers and Problems with These Computers Track Inventory and Problems with Inventory Database Easily Accessible by SCS Personnel View and Update Database Over the Web Problem History for each Computer, Including (but not limited to): Date Reported Type of Problem Date Solved Person Who Repaired the Problem Problem Report Form for New Problems Connects to Current Problem Report System for Students Upon Problem Resolution, it Goes into Problem History Printable Work Order Form for Personnel Links to Existing Database of Student-Generated Problems Not for Students But for SCS Personnel

Info includes, but is not limited to: Serial # Bar code # Lab Location Machine # in Lab Hardware Address Windows Product Key Image Printer Monitor Brand Size Number Problem History Current Problem(s) for this Machine When Computer was last Checked Online Form Displays above Information upon Request. Display Multiple Computers, By any of the Following: Room or Lab Building Image Needed Problems Online Form to Change Above Information Upon Request Displays One Computer at a Time, Per User. Online Page Prints Problem Repair Work Order Form Limited Information on This Page
