Our History
Created by a merger of the National Health Lawyers Association and the American Academy of Healthcare Attorneys on July 1, 1997, the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) is the largest nonpartisan 501(c)(3) educational organization devoted to legal issues in the health care field, with a history of more than 50 years of providing resources to practicing health law attorneys, and compliance, regulatory, and health care professionals.

The Dispute Resolution Service maintains a nationwide roster of arbitrators, mediators, and peer review hearing officers with decades of expertise in health law and health care. By promoting the fast, fair, and final resolution of commercial, employment, and consumer claims, the Dispute Resolution Service helps the health care system maintain its focus on promoting wellness and patient care.
