27 Letter to Parents August 20, 2008 Shiloh Harder Conway High School-West 2300 Prince St. Conway, AR 72034 Dear Parents and/or Guardians, Another year begins! I hope you and your child are looking forward to this year as much as I am. As we strive to have a successful year, you and your child play a huge part in that task. As expectations and responsibilities are raised, the students many times students must work harder than they are accustomed to. Unfortunately, some students decide they can not succeed and stop trying. We can all encourage them, but ultimately the student makes the decision whether to do his/her best. As a teacher, I am constantly trying to meet the needs of my students while pushing them to reach their potential. Unfortunately, I dont always know when students are feeling overwhelmed and are thinking about giving up. We need to work together to support them when they are feeling overwhelmed, and let each other know how they are doing. Anytime you are working with your child on homework or talking to them about school and you realize your child is feeling overwhelmed or is falling behind, please let me know. The sooner we can arrange extra help the better. We can talk about different options and find one that best meets the needs of your child. Please feel free to email me anytime at harders@conwayschools.net, or you can call me at the high school, 450- 4880 ext. 469, and I will return your call. (email will have a quicker response)harders@conwayschools.net Similarly, if I notice your child is falling behind or not living up to their potential, I will do my best to let you know. To help open communication and aid me in contacting you, please send me an email at harders@conwayschools.net with your students name and class period as the subject. If you do not have access to email, please send a note with a phone number (or two) at which I may reach you. harders@conwayschools.net Thank you. I look forward to a wonderful year with your child in my class. Sincerely, Welcomes communication Help Parents understand the rigor and expectations of your classroom Reminds Parents of responsibility to monitor student progress Use to collect more information from Parents
