Daily Work – I do not assign homework but any work that is not finished in class should go home.

Quizzes and Tests – We will have a vocab quiz every week and tests after every story.
*I do not collect reading logs but it is my expectation that students are reading minutes at home every day.

What We’ll Accomplish
We will have a great time learning how to access texts on a deeper level, strengthen writing skills, delve into the world of the mystery genre, use higher-level thinking skills and approaches, all the while appreciating what it means to be part of this program.

Late/Make-up Work Policy
The expectation is that you submit all assignments on time.
If you are absent, it is your responsibility to collect and complete any work you have missed. I keep all work in the “make-up bin” by my desk.
If you are out for more than two days you may request work to be sent home.
Technology
I understand that many of you have e-books on your devices (such as your phones or tablets). I do allow you to read your e-books on your devices however, if you are caught playing games, using social media, texting, or using your phone or device for any other purpose than reading, it will be sent to the office and you will have the privilege of reading on your device revoked.

You may have bottled water in the classroom and a snack as long as it’s not noisy or too messy.
Please raise your hand to speak.
Do not interrupt valuable instruction to ask to go to the bathroom. Please wait for an appropriate time. You have four bathroom passes per quarter.
Come prepared to class with your materials and a positive attitude.
Arrive on time.
Be respectful to everyone.
Clean up after yourself.
