1 Welcome to 4th Grade! Mrs. Griffin’s Class

2 Mrs. Griffin This is my 17th year of teaching.
I have taught in Aberdeen Idaho, and at Syracuse, Bluff Ridge, Lincoln and Buffalo Point Elementary Schools. I have 3 children. They are in the Spanish Immersion program. My family likes to visit Disneyland and the Oregon Coast.

5 Daily Schedule Monday – Thursday 8:45 First Bell Rings
8:50 Tardy Bell – School Begins 11:40 – 12:25 Lunch 2:20 – 2:35 Afternoon Recess 3:25 School Dismissed

6 Friday Schedule School is dismissed at 1:25 for early out.

7 Library, Art, Music, Computer and P.E.
Monday: Music at 10:15 to 11:05 Tuesday: Computer Lab at 10:15 to 11:05 Wednesday: P.E. at 10:15 to 11:05 Thursday: Library at 9:55 to 10:25

8 Communicating with Parents
Weekly s will be sent out for our class. See Mrs. Griffin’s web page. School wide notes will be sent home in the class folder.

9 Homework Packet Each Thursday students will receive a homework packet that will need to be completed by the next Thursday. Spelling tests will be given on Thursday afternoons. Students will be required to read 20 minutes a day. Students that don’t complete their assignments at school will need to finish them at home and return them the next school day. Papers that need to be returned should be placed in the student’s school folder.

10 Rules Our Classroom and School Expectations:
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Be kind to others. No fighting, put-downs, or bullying. Be respectful to your teacher, school personnel, others and their things. Raise your hand and speak when called on. Be positive about others and self. Always do your best work.

11 Classroom Management These steps will be taken when discipline is needed: 1. Students will be reminded of the rule. (1st warning) 2. Students will practice the desired behavior or fix the situation. (Practicing or making the situation right may take place during recess time.) 3. Parents will be contacted by a phone call, , or letter if the behavior continues. Students may be placed on a behavior contract for a short or long period of time. **If a school rule has been broken or for very serious offenses, the students may be sent to the office immediately and school/district policy will be followed.

13 Birthdays Currently we have 30 students in our class.
Please let me know of any food allergies. Please make sure that the treats you provide do not contain nuts. To avoid hurt feelings, students are kindly asked not to pass out party invitations during school.

14 Winter Weather Please label everything your student brings from home
Winter Weather Please label everything your student brings from home. If not claimed from class lost & found, it will be given away at the end of the year. Dress your child in clothing appropriate for the weather.

15 Volunteers Please sign up to help with parties.
Please sign up to volunteer in the classroom today. You can bring younger siblings as long as they aren’t a distraction. I will contact you soon about coming in to help! Thank you for your willingness to help in the classroom.
