1 Little Canada Please sign in and collect a luggage tag along with a medical form (to be returned by no later than Friday 17th March)

2 Clothing (EJ) Please refer to the clothing list (supplied later).
Please label everything. This is so that all items can be returned to their rightful owner if mislaid. Please can we also stress that the list includes no jewellery. This is because the activities are very practical. Saturday night there is a disco, please bring your party frocks to wear.

3 Luggage (EJ) Please clearly label your child’s luggage with the PGL name tag. Limit the amount of luggage that your child has to carry (maximum of one case/bag).

4 Reading material (EJ) Please ensure your child brings some reading material (books or magazines), so that if they wake up early, they have something to read, and for other calming down times.

5 Pocket money (EJ) Your child is allowed up to £10 pocket money.
Please send this in small change – preferably 10 x £1 coins in a labelled wallet or purse. This should be given to their teacher on the Friday morning before departure and will be available at allocated times.

6 Mobile Phones (JB) No mobile phones allowed.
If at any time we are concerned about the well-being of your child, we will not hesitate to contact you. Communicating with parents on the phone encourages homesickness. Your child may bring a stamp addressed envelopes / postcards to write home.

7 Electrical equipment (JB)
The children may bring with them a camera. Please be aware this is at their own risk! The children are not allowed any other electrical equipment. This includes hair dryers, ipods, game consoles & chargers etc. Please ensure that these items are not packed.

8 Medicines (JB) If your child requires any regular medication, could you please ensure these are clearly labelled and put in a plastic bag with any necessary instructions for usage and given to their teacher on the Friday morning before departure. If your child uses an inhaler but has not needed it for months, please send it just in case! This includes travel sickness medicines

9 First Aid (JB) Qualified First Aiders are always available on site.

10 Accommodation (JB) Each cabin is fitted to a very good standard, complete with its own bath, shower and toilet. The children are responsible for keeping them tidy and making their beds(a little practise at home before hand could be useful!) We will be staying in Tanaka & British Columbia Bedding is provided by PGL.

12 Security (JB) The centre is clearly fenced off and access to the site can only be gained via a 24 hour manned security point. PGL staff patrol the site throughout the night. We will also patrol our accommodation until all the children are safely tucked up in bed!

13 Room Groups and Working Groups (EJ)
Will be sorted out closer to departure time. The children have been placed in rooms and groups with at least one friend of their choice and a mixture of children from different classes. If you have a serious concern about your child’s group please speak to a staff member today. The working groups will be a mix of all the classes and each group will have a designated adult leader.

15 Meals (HB) The food is superb! The choice is extensive and the food is tasty. Meals are served cafeteria style and groups are asked to clear their tables after the meal. Please fill in the medical form in your pack and return to your child’s class teacher by no later than Friday 17th March.

16 Activity Programme (HB)
On arrival, your child will have a tour of the centre and a talk from a senior member of staff. The programme will be taken from the some of the activities listed below: Giant Swing Archery Matrix Quad Biking Abseiling Tunnel trail Zip wire Sensory trail Problem solving Jacob’s ladder

18 Behaviour (JB) Excellent behaviour is expected at all times. Excellent behaviour will be praised and rewarded in the form of green cards, merits, certificates and prizes. Poor behaviour will be dealt with as it would be in school, in the form of yellow and red cards, loss of activity time and, in the worst case scenario, being sent home.

19 Before we go (EJ) On the day of departure, please can your child put their labelled luggage in the hall at 8.55am. Money & medicines to be handed to teachers. Children do not need to wear uniform. We will not leave until after lunch and do not arrive at Little Canada until approximately 4pm. Bring a packed lunch to school in a plastic bag which can be thrown away afterwards.

20 Returning home (EJ) On Monday, we will leave Little Canada at approximately 1pm. The ferry will leave at 2pm and we hope to arrive in Portsmouth at the Gunwharf car ferry terminal at 2:45pm. We have arranged it so that you can pick your child up at the ferry terminal. We will keep the office informed of our timings and send you a text or call if there is any change to this time. Please ensure that the office has your current mobile phone number or other contact number..

21 Finally … … If there is anything you are unsure of, or concerned about, please just ask! It is a truly great experience that is enormous fun, thrilling at times, and certainly very memorable!
