1 How to complete the profile and make an application.

2 UCAS Progress What is UCAS Progress? What do I need to complete?
An online application form which you will need to complete to apply for Bishop Challoner 6th form and other colleges/6th forms. What do I need to complete? Contact Information Personal Details Work History Personal Statement

3 Logging on to UCAS Progress
When you get on to the UCAS Progress Home Page you will see the tan coloured box. Click on the link that says ‘Log in to UCAS Progress’.

4 Logging on to UCAS Progress
You will be taken to the Log on screen where you can enter your username and password. If you cannot remember your username/password click ‘Forgotten your password?’ and a reminder can be ed to the address you used to initially set up UCAS Progress. If you are having trouble come and see Miss McGowan in the Sixth Form Office

5 How Progress works When you are logged in you will see the ‘How Progress works’ home page. Along the top row are the different areas of Progress. Click on ‘Profile’.

6 Profile Here you can see the status of each section of your Profile.

7 Profile When a section is complete you will get a green tick next to it. The qualifications section will be complete by the school. Your Reference will be completed by your tutor.

8 Contact Information Click on the ‘Contact Information’ tab across the top and fill out all of the details you can. When you have finished select ‘Save contact details’.

9 Contact Information You may need to add your Parent/Guardian contact details at home if you don’t know them. This contact information is very important and needs to stay up to date. Please ensure that if there are any changes to your contact information, you log on and update your UCAS Progress Profile.

10 Personal Information After clicking on the ‘Personal Information’ tab at the top you will be able to complete this section. When you have finished click ‘Complete Section’ or if you want to save and come back later click ‘Save Section’. If you click complete you can still go back and edit the information.

11 Work History Click on the ‘Work history’ tab along the top.
If you have no previous work experience select ‘I have no work history’. To add work experience click ‘Start adding your work history’. For each employer you will have to give a brief overview of your responsibilities/duties.

12 Work History If you have more than one work experience to add select ‘Save and add another’. When you are finished click ‘I have added all of my work history’.

13 Personal Statement You will also need to add a short Personal statement to your profile to give institutions an idea about what your are like as a student. You can add this on the ‘Personal Statement’ tab at the top. If you have done this already, please paste it into this section. There is a help sheet on what to put in your personal statement on the VLE (Courses > Student Services > UCAS Progress).

14 Searching for Courses By clicking on the ‘Search home’ tab at the top you will be taken to the Course Search section. This is where you can search for different courses at different institutions. You can search by institution (College) name and course name. You must enter a location to search.

15 Search by Learning Provider (College or 6th Form)
When searching by learning provider you can see all of the courses that a certain institution offers.

16 Course Information If you want to look at a course in more detail, select it and you will be taken to a course description page. This will give you information about the start date for the course, the duration and an idea of the topics covered in the course.

17 Adding a course to favourites
If you are considering a course you can select ‘Add to favourites’. You need to do this before you can apply for a course. If you click on the ‘Favourites’ tab at the top you can see all of the courses you have added to favourites.

18 Checking your Profile Before sending an application make sure your profile is complete by clicking on the ‘Summary’ tab. Ensure that each section has a green tick next to it. You can also click ‘View the entire profile’ to see your profile how the institutions will see it.

19 Making an application When you have decided on an institution and courses click on the ‘Applications’ tab across the top. This will bring up the Applications page where you can view any applications that are in progress. Select ‘Start a new application’.

20 Making an Application You will be then asked to select a provider (from the ones you have saved to Favourites). Next you will be asked to select the courses you want to take (from the ones you have saved to Favourites).

21 Making an Application Next you will need to select your preference order for the courses you have selected. Use the arrows to move a selection up or now. When you have your final preference order click the blue button at the bottom.

22 Making an Application You will then have a draft application.
You can choose to Submit the application, Delete it or you can come back to it at a later time. Make sure you check over the whole application thoroughly before submitting it to the provider.

23 Making an Application If you click on the ‘Applications’ tab at the top you will be able to see any draft applications you currently have.

24 What to do now… Make sure you have completed all of the sections you need to: Contact Information Personal Information Work History Personal Statement Decide on what you want to apply for and add courses – then submit your application Remember the Bishop Challoner Sixth Form application deadline is Friday 9th December 2016.
