2 Maternity Leave I plan on starting my maternity leave the second week of November. I plan on returning early February if all goes as planned. A credentialed sub will take my place while I am out. The credentialed sub will be collaborating and planning with the 2nd grade team.

9 AVID Binders What is AVID? How will an AVID binder help?
AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. Lasselle Elementary will be using the AVID program to help students excel. How will an AVID binder help? The binder is one component of AVID. It teaches organization and responsibility in students through creating and maintaining an organized binder. What is in an AVID binder? EVERYTHING the students and parents need to keep updated on classroom and school events.

10 Homework Read a book at their level every night to meet their weekly AR goal. Create a book list/quiz number list in the “Spelling Words” portion of their agenda. *** Students can only take AR tests AT SCHOOL. 14 Growth Mindset ***Change our “I can’t…” to “I can’t…yet!”
Research has proven that intelligence is not fixed. Instead, our brain acts like a muscle, the more we use it, the stronger and smarter it becomes. Studies proved that students who were praised for their intelligence (“You’re so smart!”) avoided challenges and gave up easily. However, those who were praised for their effort or for persisting through a challenge (“You really tried hard on that.”) embraced challenges and gave their best effort. ***See Handout
