A country experiences an industrial revolution when it becomes mechanized and moves from an agricultural based society to a manufacturing one. This leads to urbanization, or the moving of people from farms in the country to work in factories in the cities. Industrial revolutions have come to different countries and parts of the world at different times. The industrial revolution came to America after England and other parts of Europe.

Many of these jobs were dangerous working around the machines. Poor working conditions and low pay eventually led to the forming of workers unions. The unions were organized to represent the workers interests. They fought for better pay, safer working conditions and child labor laws prohibiting factory owners from hiring children that were too young.

It is melted down and poured into molds to make parts for machines and building materials for things like bridges and rails for railroads. Steam can create a great amount of pressure used to power steam engines. These engines were used to power all kinds of machines from grain grinders to spinning machines in factories to make textiles. The steam engine was the one most important invention and the driving force of the industrial revolution.

24. Before the industrial revolution, there were two social classes of people in England. A small number of people called aristocrats, held most of the wealth of the nation. These were very rich people who built mansions filled with art and treasures. Most of the people of England were of the lower class and were very poor.
The building of factories led to urbanization . This created many jobs and the beginning of the working or middle class. It is called the middle class because they are in the middle between the wealthy and the lower class.
