1 St. lukes catholic school Parent-school partnership plan
2016 – 2017 School Year

2 What is a Parent School Partnership Plan (PSPP)?
A Parent-School Partnership Plan (PSPP) is a document created by the school staff and parents collaboratively in an effort to accomplish three main goals: •Establishing a Parent Friendly School Environment •Ensuring Two-Way Communication •Recognizing Excellence The plan is developed as the staff and parents examine the school’s culture and environment, assessing what can be done to improve parental engagement and student achievement. The PSPP outlines the activities, tools, structures, and processes implemented throughout the school year to improve the areas needing improvement. Successful PSPPs are evaluated on a yearly basis in order to accurately reflect the needs of the current group of students, parents, and staff members.

3 What are we trying to accomplish with our Parent-School Partnership Plan?
Through this PSPP we want to accomplish these 3 Goals: - Create a Parent Friendly Environment - Ensure Two-Way Communication - Recognize Excellence and Improvement Here’s how we are going to accomplish that…

4 Goal 1: Create a Parent Friendly Environment
First impressions: Front Office Makeover Create a comfortable waiting area, entertainment for younger children, internet access, bulletin board with school resources, and fresh, hot complimentary coffee. Fun While Learning: Quarterly Family Dinner Nights Each of these nights will focus on a different topic listed below: Understanding standardized test scores Helping my children learn at home and at school Making the home conducive learning Preparing for a successful Parent-Teacher Conference

5 Goal 2: Ensure Two Way Communication
Simplifying the Backpack: Color Coded Paper System Follow this system so you know which papers need to come back to school and which papers can stay at home. Green – Go back to school (i.e. permission slips, progress reports) Blue – Put on the refrigerator (i.e. school calendar, information for parents) White – Inside Student Portfolio (i.e. exam, quizzes, projects) We Value Your Feedback: Quarterly Parent Survey We want to hear what you think! Fill out our quick survey using you mobile phone, home computer or front office computer anytime. Results of the surveys shared with you.

6 Goal 3: Recognize Excellence and Improvement
We Caught You Being Good: Monthly Positive Phone Calls We want to build a relationship with you based on your child’s positive behavior. Expect more frequent positive communication. Recognizing Excellence: Families of the Month Winners will receive a family-friendly prize (i.e. board game, family meal basket, movie tickets). Selection determined based on criteria sent home.
