4 Morning Routines Students may enter the building starting at 7:15. Between 7:15-7:30 students are to report to the cafeteria. At 7:30 all students in the cafeteria will be escorted to the 2nd grade hallway. Students entering the building after 7:30 can go to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or report to the 2nd grade hallway. ALL students are to sit silently in their class line in the hallway. We want all students to be prepared for the day and to be in “learning mode” upon entering the classroom. At 7:45 teacher’s classroom doors will open for students to enter. Students should be in their seats in their classroom at 8:00am.

5 Specials Schedule- Ms. Torres
Ms. Torres’s class is divided into two groups with two separate specials schedules. (schedule is posted in the classroom)

6 Specials Schedule - Mrs. Weber
Mrs. Weber’s class is split up into 4 groups and they each have a different specials schedule. In the back of the classroom there is a list of the students in each group and their specials schedule.

7 Lunch Procedures Lunch 11:15-11:45
Parents are welcome to eat lunch with their children. Parents need to check in at the front office and meet their children in the cafeteria. Parents will sit on the stage with their child only, unfortunately friends cannot join.

8 Grading Policy- Math, Science and Social Studies
Students will receive numeric grades in Math, Science, and Social Studies. Grades are based on a grading scale. Daily Work – 80% Assessments – 15% Homework – 5%

9 Grading Policy- ELA Evaluation for Reading/Language arts is based on a continuum of learning rather than on a scale. Evaluation Key 3- Proficient 2- Working on 1- Not Proficient

10 Discipline Plan In order to maintain a classroom that allows all children to learn, we are using the following discipline plan. Please read and discuss the following rules, rewards, and consequences with your child. These rules will be in effect at all times at school. Conduct Rules: Follow Directions Keep hands and feet to yourself. Be respectful and kind to others. Use your inside voice. Stay on task.

11 Discipline Plan Cont. Rewards for appropriate choices
Verbal praises, pats on the back, hugs, smiles, stickers, tickets to be used to earn classroom prizes or positive planner notes sent home to parents. Consequences for inappropriate choices 1st clip change per day (1 conduct mark) – Parent note in planner. 2nd clip change (2 conduct marks) – Parent call home. Conduct emoji face will be noted in the planner along with the # of the rule that was broken.

-On the Alvin website, sign up for enews in order to receive weekly updates from the school (Bearkat Bulletin) -You can access skyward through the Alvin ISD website in order to see attendance and grades. -Pick up Patrol (download app in order to make transportation changes)

]Weekly classroom newsletters will be ed Sunday nights. Bearkat Bulletin (school news) will also be ed Sunday nights. School wide information will be sent home Tuesdays in Orange Folders. Wow Binders and Planners will go home daily!

15 Wow Binders Planner: The planner is where students will be responsible to write when homework assignments are due. If needed, we will make notes regarding behavior in the planner so please check planners daily. Homework: All homework will be placed in this section of the binder and are to be brought back in this section of the binder. Reading Log: Ms. Torres will place a reading log in this section where students are to record the 20 minutes they spend reading each night, Monday through Thursday. Students are allowed to replace two nights of reading with working on the website Imagine Learning. (Log in information to be provided) Parent/Teacher Communication: Any letters from the teacher will be placed under this section. Conduct: We have reviewed school rules as well as well as created a social contract where the students worked together to create the expectations they have for the classroom. Each day students will come home with a conduct mark from Ms. Torres and Mrs. Weber’s classes based on their location on the clip chart in each class. Please initial this section of their binder daily. As explained above, should there be any communication regarding behavior a note will be written in the planner.

16 English/Language Arts
Homework Procedures: English/Language Arts -Writing homework will be sent home at the beginning of the month and will be due at the end of the month. -Reading logs will be sent home monthly. They will be checked every Friday. Students are to record a minimum of 20 minutes daily (Monday-Thursday) Two of those 20 minutes can be replaced with Imagine Learning and can be logged in on the reading log as “Imagine Learning” -Word Study homework is to be completed 4 times a week. A menu will be provided for students to choose from.

17 Library Our classroom library day is every Thursday. Your child will check out a library book on their library day and can keep it for up to 2 weeks. The books will be due every Thursday morning. It is suggested that your child keeps their library book in their backpack so that they have it at school daily. There will be a fine for any unreturned/damaged books.

18 Homework Procedures: Math/Science
--Astros Math homework will be given out on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and due the next day. -Science Homework will be given out on Thursdays and due on Friday.

20 Field Trips We will have one field trip this school year. We will be sending out information once it gets closer.

22 -Due to allergy restrictions, no homemade food is allowed.
Birthdays -Birthday treats can be provided to the class and will be shared with students during the last 20 minutes of the day or handed to students as they are leaving. -Birthday treats that are small, pre packaged items that are not food are much appreciated. -Food items should be store bought items such as cupcakes and cookies that will be served in the last 20 minutes of the day or as students are leaving . -Due to allergy restrictions, no homemade food is allowed.

23 Food Allergies Peanut Allergy:
We have students that have an allergy to peanuts. Please do not send a snack with peanuts.
