3 AISD/Children's Student Health Services 2000-20013 Immunization n Goal: AISD will achieve 95% immunization coverage across district (TDH). n Outcome: Goal achieved 2000-01. n TDH audit confirmed achievement. n AISD/SHS received TDH letter of commendation.

4 AISD/Children's Student Health Services 2000-20014 Immunization Goal: Each Campus will achieve 95% coverage. n Key Findings: n 86 of 103 Campuses (83%) achieved 95% coverage in target areas. n Improvement over prior year, when immunization resource was lost. n Performance remains below School Year 98-99. n Resources for mobile immunization team still being sought.

5 AISD/Children's Student Health Services 2000-20015 Health Screen-Referrals Goal: Maintain service level. n High referral rate because students seen by SHS have already failed initial screen. n High case closure rate reflects good monitoring and follow- up. n Attempt to refine data tracking to capture types of closures in 2001-02.

6 AISD/Children's Student Health Services 2000-20016 Health Education Goal: Maintain level of service. n Student health education contacts increased 265% in SY 00-01. n This is a result of strategic plan for use of RN role. n Responsive to Principals’ identification of need for health education. n Also targeting parents, per Principals’ ID of need.

7 AISD/Children's Student Health Services 2000-20017 Dropout Prevention Activities n SHS participated in IMPACT team development, and training manual design. n School RNs received Parts I and II of IMPACT training. n RNs served as Advocate for 97 students, and provided 222 referrals.

8 AISD/Children's Student Health Services 2000-20018 Attendance Study Two year study of all students with identified health condition n N=1307 students with health condition. n Compared 99-00 attendance to prior year for each student in study group. n FINDINGS: n 75% maintained or improved attendance. n Average improved attendance 2.04 days n 2671 more days attended, compared to prior year.

9 AISD/Children's Student Health Services 2000-20019 Immunization, Screenings, Health Education Conclusions: n Level of service is high. n Quality of service is high as reflected in follow-up of referrals to completion. n Use of community resources is evident in referrals to community providers, and especially in the accomplishments of the Dental Collaboration. n Immunization resources are needed.

10 AISD/Children's Student Health Services 2000-200110 Immunization, Screenings, Health Education Recommendations: n Maintain level of service. n Secure resources for mobile immunization team. n Consider extending immunization services to children 0-4 years of age. n Continue to develop health education for parents. Include immunization education. n Complete identification of MH services on campus. Seek MH resources for service.
