Oil and Gas Technology Program DRAWING 05B LIC-4432 operates LV-4432 to maintain a sufficient level to keep the tubes covered LV-4432

Oil and Gas Technology Program DRAWING 05B Refrigerant Reclaimer removes unwanted refrigerant components. Heavier contaminants drain off the bottom of the chiller into the Reclaimer where Hot Oil flashes the propane out and into the Compressor vapor return line. Contaminants drain to a sump.

Oil and Gas Technology Program CONDENSATE STABILIZATION

Oil and Gas Technology Program Condensate Stabilization Hydrocarbon liquids from the three-phase separator move to condensate stabilization beginning with another three- phase separator Stabilizer usually a fractionation column – Produces stabilized condensate product from the bottom – Produces hydrocarbon gas stream from the overhead

Oil and Gas Technology Program Condensate Stabilization

Oil and Gas Technology Program Condensate Stabilizers Hydrocarbon liquids stabilized by “flashing” that quickly vaporizes liquids to lower pressures in a series of heaters and separators Stabilization column with reboiler and liquid feed from the top yields higher quality and better- controlled final product Trays yield better turndown performance – Bubble cap trays (10:1 or 10%) – Valve-tray towers (30% - 40%) Bottom temperature should not exceed 400 ⁰F to avoid hydrocarbon degradation and to ensure that water can leave from the bottom

Oil and Gas Technology Program Condensate Reboilers For large amount of hydrocarbon liquids - two 70% capacity reboilers are recommended – Better on-stream factor – When one breaks down the other can maintain throughput For smaller amounts of hydrocarbon liquids – single 100% capacity is recommended – Hydrocarbon liquids can accumulate in the slug catcher until the single reboiler comes back online

Oil and Gas Technology Program Stabilizer Overhead Compressors Reciprocating compressors – Higher maintenance requirements – Recommended Low flow rates High pressure Frequent composition changes to feed Centrifugal compressors – Interstage cooler for high compression ratios – Protect seals from high discharge temps (> 350 ⁰F)
