Christian Evidences Jesus – God in the flesh

Why does it matter? A.It is false doctrine. Humanity – 2 John 7-11; 1 John 4:1-3 Deity – John 5:17-18

John 5:17-18 But Jesus answered them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.” 18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.

Why does it matter? A.It is false doctrine. Humanity – 2 John 7-11; 1 John 4:1-3 Deity – John 5:17-18 B.Our salvation depends on both. 1 Timothy 2:3-6; Hebrews 4:14-16

1 Timothy 2:3-6 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time

Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Jesus’ Humanity In the flesh Galatians 4:4-5

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Jesus’ Humanity In the flesh Galatians 4:4-5 1 John 1:1-3

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life-- 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us-- 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

Jesus’ Humanity In the flesh Galatians 4:4-5 1 John 1:1-3 Colossians 1:21-22

And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.

Jesus’ Humanity In the flesh Galatians 4:4-5 1 John 1:1-3 Colossians 1:21-22 1 John 3:16

By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Jesus’ Humanity In the flesh Galatians 4:4-5 1 John 1:1-3 Colossians 1:21-22 1 John 3:16 1 Peter 2:21-25 Luke 24:36-39

Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "Peace to you.“ 37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. 38 And He said to them, "Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have."

Jesus’ Humanity In the flesh Galatians 4:4-5 1 John 1:1-3 Colossians 1:21-22 1 John 3:16 1 Peter 2:21-25 Luke 24:36-39 John 20:24-29

Jesus’ Humanity In the flesh Galatians 4:4-5 1 John 1:1-3 Colossians 1:21-22 1 John 3:16 1 Peter 2:21-25 Luke 24:36-39 John 20:24-29 Tempted (James 1:13)

James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.

Jesus’ Humanity In the flesh Galatians 4:4-5 1 John 1:1-3 Colossians 1:21-22 1 John 3:16 1 Peter 2:21-25 Luke 24:36-39 John 20:24-29 Tempted (James 1:13) Philippians 2:5-7

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

Jesus’ Humanity In the flesh Galatians 4:4-5 1 John 1:1-3 Colossians 1:21-22 1 John 3:16 1 Peter 2:21-25 Luke 24:36-39 John 20:24-29 Tempted (James 1:13) Philippians 2:5-7 Hebrews 4:14-16

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Jesus’ Humanity In the flesh Galatians 4:4-5 1 John 1:1-3 Colossians 1:21-22 1 John 3:16 1 Peter 2:21-25 Luke 24:36-39 John 20:24-29 Tempted (James 1:13) Philippians 2:5-7 Hebrews 4:14-16 Luke 4:1-13

Jesus’ Deity Character Compare to Paul – 1 Timothy 1:15

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

Jesus’ Deity Character Compare to Paul – 1 Timothy 1:15 Peter – Luke 5:8

Luke 5:8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!"

Jesus’ Deity Character Compare to Paul – 1 Timothy 1:15 Peter – Luke 5:8 John – 1 John 1:8-10

1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Jesus’ Deity Character Compare to Paul – 1 Timothy 1:15 Peter – Luke 5:8 John – 1 John 1:8-10 Jesus – John 8:42-47 Claim John 8:54-58 John 1:1-5 John 10:24-30 John 14:7-11 He accepted worship (Luke 4:6-8)

Luke 4:6-8 And the devil said to Him, "All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” 8 And Jesus answered and said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.' "

Jesus’ Deity Character Compare to Paul – 1 Timothy 1:15 Peter – Luke 5:8 John – 1 John 1:8-10 Jesus – John 8:42-47 Claim John 8:54-58 John 1:1-5 John 10:24-30 John 14:7-11 He accepted worship (Luke 4:6-8) Matthew 8:2-3

And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” 3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Jesus’ Deity Character Compare to Paul – 1 Timothy 1:15 Peter – Luke 5:8 John – 1 John 1:8-10 Jesus – John 8:42-47 Claim John 8:54-58 John 1:1-5 John 10:24-30 John 14:7-11 He accepted worship (Luke 4:6-8) Matthew 8:2-3 Matthew 9:18-19

While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” 19 So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.

Jesus’ Deity Character Compare to Paul – 1 Timothy 1:15 Peter – Luke 5:8 John – 1 John 1:8-10 Jesus – John 8:42-47 Claim John 8:54-58 John 1:1-5 John 10:24-30 John 14:7-11 He accepted worship (Luke 4:6-8) Matthew 8:2-3 Matthew 9:18-19 John 9:35-38

Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, "Do you believe in the Son of God?” 36 He answered and said, "Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?” 37 And Jesus said to him, "You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.” 38 Then he said, "Lord, I believe!" And he worshiped Him.

Jesus’ Deity Character Compare to Paul – 1 Timothy 1:15 Peter – Luke 5:8 John – 1 John 1:8-10 Jesus – John 8:42-47 Claim John 8:54-58 John 1:1-5 John 10:24-30 John 14:7-11 He accepted worship (Luke 4:6-8) Matthew 8:2-3 Matthew 9:18-19 John 9:35-38 Matthew 28:9-10

And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!" So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me."

Conclusion 1.It is false to say Jesus is just a man/just God. 2.To say He was just a man makes Him a liar. He claimed to be God. 3.To say He was just God makes the scriptures contradict. He came in the flesh. 4.Our salvation depends upon Jesus’ deity and humanity. Do you believe?
