1 Acts 8:5, 35 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 2 Corinthians 4:5
We Preach Christ Acts 8:5, 35 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 2 Corinthians 4:5 Based on Sermon by Mark Mayberry Preached at West Side church of Christ on March 11, 2007 AM Print slides: 1, 9, 13, 17, 23, 25 (Note: At the first of the lesson, emphasize that our relationship with God, and the privileges we receive, demand that we preach. We MUST preach: to family, friends, and those we meet. Only we have the gospel of Christ.)

2 Acts 8:5, 35 (5), Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. (35), Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.

3 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

4 2 Corinthians 4:5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake.

5 We Preach Christ We must preach his deity (John 1:1-3).

6 John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

7 We Preach Christ We must preach his deity (John 1:1-3).
We must preach his incarnation (John 1:14).

8 John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

9 We Preach Christ We must preach his deity (John 1:1-3).
We must preach his incarnation (John 1:14). We must preach his perfect life (Hebrews 4:14-16).

10 Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

11 We Preach Christ We must preach his crucifixion (Romans 3:23-26).

12 Romans 3:23-26 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

13 We Preach Christ We must preach his crucifixion (Romans 3:23-26).
We must preach his resurrection (Romans 5:8-10).

14 Romans 5:8-10 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

15 We Preach Christ We must preach his authority (Matthew 28:18-20).

16 Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

17 We Preach Christ We must preach his authority (Matthew 28:18-20).
We must preach his doctrine (John 8:31-32).

18 John 8:31-32 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

19 We Preach Christ We must preach his kingdom (Matthew 16:18-19).

20 Matthew 16:18-19 "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 "And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

21 We Preach Christ We must preach his kingdom (Matthew 16:18-19).
We must preach his return (John 14:1-3).

22 John 14:1-3 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

23 We Preach Christ We must preach his kingdom (Matthew 16:18-19).
We must preach his return (John 14:1-3). We must preach his judgment (Acts 17:30-31).

24 Acts 17:30-31 "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 "because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."

25 Conclusion We must preach his invitation
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” Revelation 3:20-21
