8 Future challenges Embrace the complexity! We live in an evolving policy landscape on research data preservation and sharing & research publishing. OA Policy implementation has been slow in Ireland but is gaining momentum Open Access for publishing is still very much a live issue – there is a clear role for libraries in increasing deposit rates, and continuing to guide researchers through the complexity of Open Access requirements, publishing and Open Data deposit Libraries need to continue to forge links with Research Support and IT departments and be active in policy development and implementation at institutional, national and European level Better linkages with Open Data government (administrative data and data generated by state agencies) Be involved!
