5. What makes his art important? Diego Rivera’s art is important because he felt art should be for all people, rich and poor. His art told the history of Mexico and hope for the future.

6. Diego was born a twin but his brother died. His parents did not want anything to happen to Diego so they sent him to live with an Indian healer. He loved drawing so much his father built him a special room with chalkboard walls. When Diego lived in Europe he was interested in frescoes - paintings on plaster walls and ceilings. Diego loved Mexican folk art and culture. Diego painted very large murals decorating walls of important public buildings in Mexico. He was married to another Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo.
