2 School Hours: *Before Care: 7:00 am – 8:00 am (must register prior to first day of school). *Students not enrolled in before care can enter school at 7:50am for breakfast and 8:00am for teacher pickup *Dismissal is at 3:00pm *After Care 3:00pm – 6:30pm (must register prior to first day of school). *Students cannot be left alone if they are not registered in before/after care.

4 Absences and Tardies *Make sure your child is in class on time on a daily basis. *Students need to be in their seats by 8:30am. *Make sure when your child is absent, you send a note to excuse his/her absence. *5 consecutive absences REQUIRE a doctors note to be considered excused. *Students with an unexcused absence will not be allowed to make up work.

5 Classroom Procedures/Schedule : *Morning Journal *Math *Science *Lunch 10:40-11:10am *Reading *Writing *P.E. *Social Studies *Dismissal 3:00pm SPECIALS: *Students will have Art, PE, and Spanish on a weekly basis. Students will also have Recess weekly. **Please have the necessary classroom supplies by Thursday, August 25 th.

6 Curriculum: Common Core Reading/Writing *Students retell stories, including key details, understanding the moral/lesson of the story. *Students ask and answer questions about key details in the text. *Character/Setting/Events *Students use illustrations and details in a text to describe key ideas. *Students name a topic and supply facts about the topic. *Students provide some sense of closure. *Spelling/High-Frequency Words/Vocabulary *Reading/Language Arts interactive notebook *Weekly Assessments (starting January, students will be responsible for reading the stories on their own.

7 Math Curriculum: *Addition *Subtraction *Word Problems *Doubles Plus One *Doubles Minus One *Place Value *Money *Patterns *Time *Geometric Shapes *Measurements *Math interactive notebook

8 Science Curriculum: *Students will be conducting science experiments in our science lab once every two weeks. *Science Interactive Notebook *Scientific Process *Animals/Plants *Sun/Earth *Water Cycle Social Studies Curriculum *Social Studies Interactive notebook *Social Studies Weekly

9 Home Learning: *Homework will be given on a daily basis. *Students are responsible for copying their homework in their Agenda on a daily basis. *Students NEED to practice Spelling/Sight/Vocabulary Words on a DAILY basis! *iStation - students are REQUIRED to complete 3 sessions for Reading (each session has to be 30 minutes long). *Mathletics - students are REQUIRED to complete 3 sessions per week. *Please check the homework on the school site on a weekly basis for important information.

12 Dress Code for cold days: Students may wear a long sleeve shirt that matches the color of the uniform shirt that they are wearing that day. Ex: white long sleeve shirt with white uniform shirt Sweaters MUST be solid, navy blue *Students are NOT allowed to wear boots or Uggs on cold days, ONLY on Fridays, for Jean Day.

13 Jean Day Do’s Don’ts School spirit shirt NO Jean Shorts/Skirts or uniform polo NO Jeans with rips BLUE jeans only NO Jeans that fit too big or low Any color sneakers NO open toe shoes or Crocs *ALL jeans MUST be ankle length Cost: $1.00 *NOT all Friday’s will be Jean Day, a announcement will be made prior to Jean Day.

14 School Spirit Shirts are MANDATORY for ALL students and chaperones attending school field trips! *First grade uses the Aqua colored shirt *Shirts are available for purchase for $10

15 Birthday Party Schedule Wednesday, September 21 Wednesday, October 19 Wednesday, November 16 Wednesday, December 21 Wednesday, January 18 Wednesday, February 15 Wednesday, March 15 Wednesday, April 19 Wednesday, May 17 Wednesday, June 7 *If you would like to be a part of the birthday celebration, you MUST be cleared prior to the date. *Only ONE parent/guardian is allowed to participate.

17 Parent Volunteer Hours 30 hours per student All donation items MUST have a receipt attached to it with students name! *Class donations from the wish list *Field Trip Chaperone *Helping out around the school (please make sure you are cleared to assist in school activities) *Gift Cards for class use
