3 rd Grade Bilingual We are looking forward to an exciting and productive year. We are thrilled to have your child in our classrooms this year.
Daily Homework Homework reinforces what is done in class. Homework will be assigned daily and will be checked for completion everyday as well. Students will be responsible for copying their daily homework assignments inside their Mater Gardens Academy agenda. Parents should supervise and help students complete their homework.
Class Parties Birthday parties are great; however, they do take away from our teaching time. We ask that if you do wish to celebrate your child’s birthday you do it Friday’s during P.E. time (11:25 – 12:05). Holiday parties will be kept simple this year seeing how we must prepare our students for the FCAT.

Volunteer Hours If you are interested in helping out in class you must submit a School Volunteer form for approval. Once your application is processed you will be given a volunteer number. Your volunteer number must be active if you would like to volunteer in class. We will ask parents when there is an activity in class and/or a field trip. We will make an effort to allow all parents an opportunity to volunteer when necessary.
Volunteer Hours The required amount of hours is 30 per child and 15 for each additional sibling. Every $5 spent equals 1 hour. If you donate items from our “wish list” please make sure to turn in the receipt in order to get hours.
Attendance Policy The day your child is able to return, it is imperative that you send a note indicating the child's name, the reason for the absence and the date/s of the absence/s. Excused absences are only allowed in case of illness or death in the family. An unexcused absence will be given if a note is not sent to school within 2 days of the absence/s. Serious absenteeism will be referred to administration for further review. NOTE: 3 UNEXCUSED ABSENCES = 1 REFERAL
Tardiness It is especially important that your child be in school on time. A child will be marked tardy if they are not in class by 8:30 a.m. Excessive tardiness will also be referred to administration. NOTE: 10 TARDIES = 1 REFERAL
