9 Part 2: Population Birthrate- the amount of live births per 1,000 people in population Mortality rate- same as death rate

10 Population distribution Population Density Measures how crowded an area is It’s the number of people who live in a measureable area (such as a square mile) Push Pull Factors- Factors that cause people to move Push- things happen in a place to make it uncomfortable to stay (it PUSHES them away) Pull – the promise of a new place and opportunities make people desire to leave their situation and go to the new place (It (the promise of something better) PULLS them into an area)

17 There are 4 Levels of Economic Activity primary - gathering material from the earth (eg. farming) secondary or manufacturing - turning materials into things to sell (eg. working in a factory) tertiary or service - to provide a service for people (eg. teacher)

18 Natural Resources Materials from nature- eg: trees are used to make boards

19 Per Capita Income The average amount of money earned by each person

20 Gross National Product Total value of goods and services produced by a nation (can be created elsewhere) eg: Toyota is a Japanese company that makes cars in the United States and in Mexico

21 Gross Domestic Product Total value of all goods and services produced within the boundaries of a nation. Everything the nation’s companies make in the factories of that nation (domestically).
