5. School-wide Behavior Policy ● Our school has implemented a behavior plan used throughout the school. ● If your child receives a refocus sheet, please discuss the appropriate behavior with your child, sign and return the following day.

6. Rules ● Be ready! ● Be respectful! ● Be responsible! ● Be safe! H.O.W. (Hallway rules) H – Hands and feet to yourself. O – One behind the other. W – Walking quietly.

7. Parent Polices ● According to the Forsyth County Wellness Policy, all snacks and food brought to school for a class must be commercially prepared. We have many students with allergies and need to be able to verify ingredients in food products. ● Fast food is not allowed in the lunchroom. Parents must eat at the parent tables with their child only (No friends/classmates). ● Parent volunteers should be scheduled with the teacher in advance. ● No check-out after 2:45. classrooms. ● Younger siblings should not accompany volunteers to classrooms. ● There will be no visitors on testing or early release days due to a condensed instructional day schedule.

11. Reading ● Students may check out 1 book at a time from the media center. ● Children should read 20 minutes or more each night.

12. MATH ● We will be working with Math Frameworks (as part of the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards).

13. Social Studies & Science We will be learning all about Georgia in the following areas: ● Geography ● Native Americans (Creek and Cherokee) ● Government ● Economics ● Historical Figures In science, we will focus on the scientific method in the following areas: ● Animals and Plants and their surroundings. ● Matter ● Astronomy

14. HOWL Helping Our Wolves Learn ● We will focus on target areas of needs. ● A small group setting will allow teachers to provide remediation or extension as needed throughout the year.

15. Homework ● The homework sheet goes home weekly. ● Please keep the homework sheet in your child’s daily folder. ● Please initial the homework sheet every night. ● Homework is due every Friday. ● Homework is posted on 2 nd grade webpage.

16. Assessments Occasionally, assessments will be sent home for parent review. Please sign and return all assessments to your child's teacher.

17. 9 Weeks Report Card ● Grading is based on a 4, 3, 2, 1 scale. ● Report Card is a report of progress toward mastery of second grade standards. ● Please see the Quarter 1 Report Card Details for more information about standards (blue sheet).

18. Our Well-Being ● If your child is not feeling well and displays signs of illness/fever please do not send your child to school. Please keep your child home for at least 24 hours of being fever free.

19. ● If you have not done so, please fill out the BYOT form and return to your teacher as soon as possible. ● Please discuss the important guidelines and rules regarding using technology in the classroom with your child. ● Your child is responsible for his/her device. ● If your child does not adhere to the policy, the device will be collected and you will be asked to come to the school to pick it up.
