10 8/21/14 10 Standards- Based Report Cards Progress Reports will be given out every 4 1/2 weeks. Report card grades are based on grade- level performance within the second grade standards.

11 SBRC Teachers will continually assess student progress to determine progress toward mastery of the standards. Expect at the beginning for your child to be progressing in most areas. 8/21/14 11

12 SBRC Your child should show continual improvement throughout the year. Teachers will be collecting work samples to build a portfolio to provide evidence of performance. 8/21/14 12

13 MAP Students will take a computerized assessment on Reading, ELA, and Math three times a year to benchmark progress. Data will enable the teachers to instruct on the students individual level. 8/21/14 13

16 8/21/14 16 Reading Logs Your child will be given a free choice board to complete each 9 weeks. There are monthly goals noted at the bottom corner of the board, please help your child to work toward the monthly/quarterly goals!

18 8/21/14 18 Homework Tips Check your child’s agenda/folder every night. Set aside a quiet place and schedule a time for your child. Read with your child daily. Review homework with your child daily. Every Tuesday, check your child’s STAR folder.

19 8/21/14 19 Early Morning Procedure Car riders should be dropped off on Strickland Funeral Home side of the school. Students will report straight to the classrooms upon arrival to school. Breakfast is served in your child’s classroom every morning.

20 8/21/14 20 Classroom Rules 1.Respect others. 2.Follow directions and class procedures. 3.One person speaks at a time. 4.Keep hands, feet, and negative comments to yourself. 5.Be prepared for class. 6.Be honest.

21 8/21/14 21 Consequences Green – Doing Great! Yellow – Lose 5 minutes of recess. Red – Lose 10 minutes of recess. Blue – Lose entire recess and write sentences.

22 8/21/14 22 Office Referrals Repeat offenders of classroom rules will be referred to an administrator. Severe offenses will result in an immediate referral to an administrator, without going through the color changes.

23 8/21/14 23 Lunchroom Procedures The students are to be silent for the first 10 minutes of lunch and may talk the last 20 minutes of lunch. When a visitor comes to eat lunch the child of the visitor may sit at the tables located in the middle of the lunchroom. Please do not invite other students to eat at the visitors table.

24 8/21/14 24 Recess 2 nd Grade will be on the playground from 12:05 until 12:25 each day (weather permitting). Swings- Sit flat, come to a complete stop before exiting the swings. Slide – Flat on your bottom, one person at time. Monkey Bars – No standing, flipping, or monkeying around on them. What’s on the ground, stays on the ground!!!!

25 8/21/14 25 Dismissal Bus students will walk quietly to their appropriate bus monitor to wait for loading of the buses. Car riders will sit quietly in the hall until their name is called. Older siblings will sit with younger siblings in the hallway.
