2 ARTWORK Ancient Mesopotamian artwork is some of the most rare in the world. With one of a kind sculptures, tombs, writing and jewelry. Jewelry can be made out of a fine rock called Lapis Lazuli which is a deep blue rock only found in the region of Mesopotamia. The sculpture can depict their gods, fallen war heroes and mighty kings.

3 SUMERIAN ART IN UR Some of the most treasured art work from one of the first civilizations ever are found in Ur. Take this tomb, in memory of a Sumerian Queen, it is made out of lapis lazuli, only found in this region of Mesopotamia. The tomb depicts servants working for her and walking with her to her death. On the other side of the tomb is a depiction of infantry men fighting in battle. Soldiers of chariots riding into fight.

4 MAGNIFICENT ZIGGURATS Ziggurats were often the center piece of most city states in Mesopotamia. The building were the largest and the most beautiful buildings in the town or city. The ziggurats were where the people can worship their gods and practice religion. Where the king and queen lives. And also where all of the cities accounting took place. Sacrifices and other rituals would take place in the Ziggurat. All the scribes, mathematicians and government officials would work her every day. If you looked at a city like Sumer from a distance you could only see the large wall and then the amazing gigantic temple.

6 TOWER OF BABEL The tower of Babel is like the modern day empire state building. You can see this tower from miles away. The tower is large and was one of the largest structures in the entire region of Mesopotamia

7 TIGRIS AND EUPHRATES Mesopotamia is home to two of the most beautiful rivers in the middle east. Conveniently located next to Ur, Babylon, Sumer and Nippur these rivers are a great way to relax and cool off. They also supply a great deal of food and water for these city states.

8 MARKETPLACE Experience some of the greatest marketplaces in history when you travel to Mesopotamia. Merchants travel from far parts of the world to trade and buy jewelry, ceramics, tapestries, fruits and fish and precious metals. You can find anything that you are interested in at your cities local marketplace. If you just want a snack, fish or your meal at any part of the day the market is open and busy

9 WRITING AND MATHEMATICS Mesopotamians have a very complicated writing form called Cuneiform. The Mesopotamians developed writing and began to writ on clay tablets. As well as developing writing, they discovered Mathematics. They used mathematics to help with transactions in trade. They also created the Abacus for complicated calculations.

10 FARMING Farming is a lifestyle that most Mesopotamians can experience. The farms are usually located on the outskirts of the city wall and can be easily accessed from the city. Farming provides a large part of the cities food and provides a stable economy.
