2 D.I.D.L.S. = TONE Denotation (dictionary meaning) Connotation (emotional meaning) D = Diction- the connotation of the word choice and the overall effectiveness of the word I = Images - Vivid appeals - 5 senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, touch D = Details – Facts L = Language - Formal or informal S = Sentences - How the sentences are structured in the writing.
