2 Introduction Here are some Chinese New Year traditions. There is always a lion and dragon dance. People set off fire crackers to wake up the rain dragon so it will rain and crops will grow. Kids get red envelopes with money inside it which stands for good luck. The adults get no money and no red envelopes.

3 Introduction In China red stands for good luck. There are a lot of dragons. During the year of the dragon there are more dragons. This year was the year of the goat. The new year started in late February and ended in early March. Every year the new year is a new animal. People eat noodles and dumplings.

4 Lion Dance Here is information about the lion dance. The lion dance is a Chinese tradition. People dress up like lions and dance. China also has a dragon dance. Red stands for good luck and there is red on the lion and dragon costumes. The lion dance is a dance that happens every year for the Chinese New Year. Today I am going to talk to you about Chinese dragons in Chinese New Year. The purpose of the Lion Dance is to bring good luck to the New Year and scare away the evil spirits. It is also performed during other Chinese traditional, cultural and religions festivals.

5 Lion Dance When a child does The Lion Dance, it brings good luck to the entire family. The Lion Dance is also called the “Lion Lantern”. The Lion Dance has spread around the world for example, it can be held in Malaysia, Singapore and more Asian countries and Chinese cities.

6 Lion and Dragon Dance An easy way to tell the difference between the Lion Dance and the Dragon Dance, is that the first one is operated by two people, while the second one needs a group of persons.

7 Red Envelopes Here is some information about the Chinese red envelopes. The envelopes are red. They have money in them but only for the young. The adults get no money but they give the kids the money in the envelopes. There is red on the envelopes and red stands for good luck.
