2 Grant Overview 1.US Department of Labor 2.$100M available in grant funds 3.25 to 40 grants will be awarded 4.Estimated award would be $3-6M 5.4 year implementation beginning 2014-15 school year

3 Partnership Scottsbluff Public Schools in collaboration with… 1.Local Workforce Investment Board – Pat Comfort 2.WNCC – Dr. Terry Gaalswyk and Jason Stratman 3.Employers Consortium – TCD, Darla Heggem and Rawnda Pierce

4 Goal To ensure that all students gain academic and occupational skills by accomplishing all of the following: 1.completing the program and graduating from high school; 2.moving into a positive placement following high school that includes productive employment (including the military), post-secondary education, long-term occupational skills training or a registered apprenticeship; 3.obtaining an industry-recognized credential when available 4.earning post-secondary credit towards a degree or credit- bearing certificate issued by an institution of higher education.

9 How would this award help? 1.Expand and renovate Voc-Ag (’81) Building 2.Designate/renovate WNCC space for related dual credit classes 3.Acquire advanced and specialized equipment necessary to enhance programming options (STEM emphasis) 4.Involve all SHS students in at least one mentored, guided goal-oriented career pathway(s) 5.Ensure all SHS students attain college credit and/or industry- recognized credentials prior to graduation 6.Foster strong, area wide partnerships with business and industry to support internships, field work and authentic exposure to potential careers 7.Support countywide participation in future years
