3 The First People of the Caribbean The Caribbean is a chain of islands that stretch some 2,000 miles through the Caribbean Sea. The Caribbean islands have fertile soil and plenty of rainfall which is especially good for the production of sugar and cotton. What Native Americans lived on the islands thousands of years ago?
