2 What is Alliteration? Alliteration is a literary device that uses the repetition of the same sound at the beginning of words that are near each other.

3 Where is alliteration used? Alliteration is used mostly in poetry. It can be used in any writing. Authors use alliteration in tongue twisters.

4 Why do author’s use alliteration? It is a technique author’s use to create a mood and shows how an author wants to emphasize certain words and concepts.

5 Betty Botter by Mother Goose Betty Botter bought some butter but, she said, the butter’s bitter; if I put it in my batter it will make my batter bitter, but a bit of better butter will make my batter better. So she bought a bit of butter better than her bitter butter, and she put it in her batter and the batter was not bitter. So ‘twas better Betty Booter bought a bit of better butter.
