2. “Journeys” A gift of time Kindergarten standards The first year of a two-year Kindergarten program for children with Birthdays from November 1- December 2. Active learning, experiences, and the use of hands-on, concrete objects.

3. Standards are addressed, in an experiential, developmental way. They are modified to meet the needs of academic, social and emotional needs of younger students.

5. Journeys: More time for hands on/interactive learning. Gift of time to build strong foundation for success. High quality kindergarten readiness at no cost to parents.

6. Provides young students the opportunity to start school with children their own age and a teacher that can tailor the program to their needs. Children have the opportunity to spend time learning important social, emotional and academic skills that will help them in Kindergarten and beyond.

7. Dramatic Play: We address the skills of decision-making, sharing, imagination, reasoning, creativity, puppetry, invention, expressive language, social interaction, number concepts, and self-awareness. Additionally

8. Fine Motor: We address the skills of eye-hand coordination through cutting, pasting, manipulating objects, pre-writing/writing, patterning, letter/number tracing/writing, and other activities for small muscle development.

10. Music/Listening: We address the skills of music appreciation, listening, following directions, rhythm, expression of feelings, social/emotional development; students will have weekly lessons from our Music Specialist. Standards: Visual/Performing Arts (Music)

11. Art: We address the skills of creativity, drawing/painting/clay, concepts of color, spatial relations, self-expression, small and large muscle development. Standards: Visual/Performing Arts, English Language Arts (reading, writing, speaking, listening)

12. Parent Participation Rely upon Regular Volunteers Participate in every area of Parent Associations and all their activities Part of decision about readiness for First Grade

13. Students will be promoted to Kindergarten for the following year, or – O R If the school and family agree, they may move on to 1 st grade.
