4. The CRC is a mandatory scheme aimed at improving energy efficiency and cutting emissions in large public and private sector organisations. A revision as part of the CSR 2010, the Scheme is now essentially a taxation scheme for participants. What they pay is dependant on their levels of emissions. NCC is expecting to pay up to £1M in tax per year (at £12/tonne) from April 2012. Schools will meet their liability through a top slice of the Designated School Grant.
