3. LET’S RECAP! A verb tense tells you when the action happens. There are three main verb tenses; past, present and future. Each tense is divided into; simple, perfect, progressive and perfect progressive.

The helping verb in the phrase is always a form of verb to have. Basically write the verb using the past participle. The form of verb to have changes depending on the tense.

PROGRESSIVE FORM Progressive forms indicate a continuing action It tells the reader that the action is taking place now The action is in progress– hence the name In progressive forms we use the present participle: verb to be + verb+ing To make it simpler, I am going to categorize the 6 progressive forms into 2 parts: simple progressive and perfect progressive
