2 GHNHSFT Carers Policy The Trust recognises the important contribution that Carers, Young Carers and Care Workers can make to the care of patients in hospital and in helping to meet their ongoing health needs in the community There are many issues that affect all Carers, including Young Carers, and the Trust gives commitment to supporting them in their own right

3 Information and Support for Carers Information leaflet “Information for Carers Attending Gloucestershire Hospital’s NHS Foundation Trust’, which gives details of support and facilities available. These are available in all wards and departments Availability of Carers Assessment, offered through referral to Carers Gloucestershire Signposting to other Support Services (e.g. Carers Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire Young Carers, Age UK, Alzheimer’s Association, Stroke Association, Gloucestershire County Council Adult Helpdesk) as appropriate Interpreting services where required for carer and or patient

5 The Carers Badge Exemption from parking fees Reduced meal costs in the hospital restaurants Free drinks on the ward Use of toilet and washing facilities in ward area

6 The badge is to help staff identify carers and also enables: Exemption from car parking fees for a carer for the duration of in patient stay Free drinks on the ward Use of toilet and washing facilities Reduced meal costs in the hospital restaurant You can currently obtain a carer badge from the PALS office and in the future direct from the wards Carers’ badges and exemptions

7 Hospital Liaison Officer Works on Acute Wards- Stroke and GOAM across two sites Runs a Carers Information Clinic Involved in contributing to policy/strategy
