1 Braden River High School Agriscience/FFA Thursday, September 5, 2013

2 All Youth Livestock Exhibitors will be required to participate in an Animal Ethics Course to be eligible to show at the Manatee County Fair. There will be a course on November 11 th at Riverview High School (Hillsborough County) from 9am-noon and on December 14, 2012 from 8-11am in the Kendrick Auditorium at the Manatee County Extension Office. 3 Pre-Registration Packet All pre-registration paperwork must be printed and filled out from the following website: http://www.manateecountyfair.com/forms-pre- register.htm One pre-registration form should be completed per exhibitor. Check the area you are participating in: Beef Breeding, Dairy, Goat, Dog, Horse, Poultry, Rabbit, Steer & Swine. There is a $10 registration fee per animal. Be sure to complete the exhibitor and parent release (must be notarized)

4 All Livestock Rules/Record Books are to be printed by the exhibitor on the following website: www.manateecountyfair.com **Please go to the Youth Ag Exhibits Section and follow to find Livestock AND Plant Record Books!

5 Security Entrance For all animal projects. The Security Entrance Pass cost is $10.00 per exhibitor and is to be paid with the Pre-Registration Packet. 4 additional passes can be purchased for immediate family members at the cost of $15 each. Make checks payable to Manatee River Fair Association. Kids five and under DO NOT need a pass. Passes can be picked up at the fair office between December 16, 2013 and January 15, 2014.

6 Mandatory meetings/check-ins Bring all paperwork to the meeting unless otherwise noted. Please note if you should or should not be bringing the animal with you to this check-in. All of this information can be found at: http://www.manateecountyfair.com/forms-pre-register.htm

7 Rabbits Registrations for this area will be completed at the Rabbit Check-In on November 3, 2013 in the Mosaic Arena at the Fairgrounds. The hours of the check-in are 2 PM-4 PM. Please remember to have every item on the registration complete. Bring your Rabbit with you to the check-in. Failure to complete the registration will result in disqualification. *See Ms. Cohenour for information on breeders & obtaining a rabbit. **Must be tattooed in the left ear before check-in! Rabbit Expo-September 22 nd @Fairgrounds. Check out Staff directory: Cohenour for the expo flyer.

8 Poultry Poultry– Mandatory Check-In on Nov. 3, 2013 – 2 p.m.- Arena (bring animals). Please remember to have every item on the registration complete. Bring your Poultry with you to the check-in. Failure to complete the registration will result in disqualification.

9 Dairy Paperwork to Ms. Giammanco on Nov. 1, 2013 or Nov. 30th if you purchase an animal at the Bartow Auction in Nov. Full body profile picture both sides and face shot with ear tags visible $10.00 per animal with paperwork to Ms. Giammanco by November 1 st (This is due to Manatee County Fair) $50 and signed Lease Agreement due to Mrs. Dakin for loan of animal

10 Dairy: Drop-off Tuesday Jan. 14 th 4-7pm Showmanship Wednesday @ 6pm Jan.15 th Show Friday @ 6pm Jan. 17 th Costume show Saturday @ 10am Jan. 18 th Load Out at 6pm on January 19 th

11 Dogs Dogs – Fair Office by Nov. 29, 2013 More information to come: Please make sure that you signed in today and that you included your contact information so that we can update you!

12 Horses Horses – All paperwork is due to the Fair Office (only those pages required by Fair) on Oct. 14, 2013 by 5 p.m The pre-registration packet (currently on fair website) should be completed and turned in by the above date! The horse registration sheet is not yet available on the fair website. But, this should be ready soon!

13 Swine *Registration for this area will take place on October 5, 2013 in Kendrick Auditorium on the Fairgrounds at 8 AM and will last until 12 PM. All exhibitors must be present along with their parents to complete all paperwork. There will be short classes that will include Swine Nutrition, Fitting and Grooming and other related short programs. For registration: Bring completed pre-registration packet: Registration with $10, notarized form, bring security passes/$ Full body picture with ear tag visible plus proof of ownership (copy bill of sale from when purchased) Also: Must also be tattooed with same number as tag we give you tonight! Tags can come out!

14 Swine Mid-September: Through Mrs. King (date passed). Should have turned in $50 to Mrs. Barry by 8/30! Taylor Noble has pigs available: $100—see flyer on FFA Bulletin Board! Next Level Show Pigs: $250-$350. 15 Goats Goats – Mandatory Check-In on Nov. 2, 2013 – 2 p.m. - Arena (bring animals) 2 male goats looking for a home: Mudge is about 1 1/2 yrs old and neutered. Frank is about a year old and has all his parts. They are both dwarf/pygymy goats. Please see Mrs. Barry if you are interested!

16 Beef Breeding Cattle Mandatory Check-In Meeting- Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 7 PM at the Manatee County Fairgrounds. Parent must accompany exhibitor. No Animals— Bring paperwork including entry form, bill of sale and $10 entry fee per animal. You must include a picture of your animal, where you can clearly see the animals tag number Registration papers for purebred animals and a bill of sale for crossbred animals.

17 Plants Workshop: Sept 21 st, 8:30-noon. Register online. October 2, 5pm: registration deadline (online). Classes A, B, C October 3, 2-6:30pm: Plant tagging @Mosaic Arena. Classes A, B, C December 4 th, 5pm: registration deadline (online). Class D December 5 th, 2-6:30pm: Plant tagging @Mosaic Arena. Class D Jan. 13 th, 2-6:30pm: Plant Check-in. (student must set-up their displays without parent assistance!) Jan. 18 th, 6pm: Plant Auction & Awards @ Mosaic Arena

19 Livestock Judging (for everyone) Dairy, Swine & Horse Judging: Saturday, January 18 th --Registration at 7:30am & Judging starts at 8am. Heifer, Steer & Goat Judging: Saturday, January 25 th —Registration at 8:30am & Judging starts at 9am.
