3. Employee expectations These are usually centre on; Fair treatment by the employer Steady employment Good conditions (pay & leave) Positive working environment Safe workplace

4. Job Satisfaction This can be affected by the expectations the individual brings to the job & also by such factors as; The nature of the work The remuneration (pay) for the work The way the work is supervised The quality relationships with fellow workers/colleagues Existence of paths for career development & advancement Balance between work & non-work life

5. Motivation This is what drives the individual member of staff to put effort into their job. Because it involves personality factors & personal circumstances (stage of life) the degree of a person’s motivation can be highly individual.
