Prof. Jayant Narlikar Director, Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics, he was invited to establish in 1988 B.Sc. degree in 1957, Banaras Hindu University. Cambridge degrees in mathematics: B.A.(1960), Ph.D. (1963), work with Fred Hoyle in Cambridge until 1972. Professor, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) 1972- 89 President of the Cosmology Commission of the International Astronomical Union from 1994 to 1997. Scientific Models and a Comprehensive Picture of Reality, The Finnish Society for Natural Philosophy, Helsinki, May 20-21, 2016 Together with Sir Fred Hoyle Narlikar developed the conformal gravity theory, commonly known as Hoyle–Narlikar theory. It synthesises Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity and Mach's Principle. It proposes that the inertial mass of a particle is a function of the masses of all other particles, multiplied by a coupling constant, which is a function of cosmic epoch.

Dr. Heikki Sipilä D.Tech. Technical University of Helsinki, physics 1978 Vice president of Outokumpu Electronics Vice president of Metorex International Chairman of board of HS Foils Oy Founder or co-founder of Baltic Scientific Instruments Metorex International and HS Foils Oy Sipilä’s special expertise is in radiation detectors and in x-ray and gamma spectroscopy; Sipilä’s team has designed and delivered X-ray detectors for 10 scientific satellites for USA, Japan, India, Italy and ESA missions. Scientific Models and a Comprehensive Picture of Reality, The Finnish Society for Natural Philosophy, Helsinki, May 20-21, 2016

Dr. Julian Barbour British physicist with research interests in quantum gravity, Machian physics and the history of science. Dr. Barbour has worked as an independent scientist collaborating with several researchers in academia. He has written two books: The Discovery of Dynamics, which investigates the background to Newton’s great discoveries, and The End of Time, which advances timeless physics: the controversial view that time, as we perceive it, does not exist as anything other than an illusion, and that a number of problems in physical theory arise from assuming that it does exist. Scientific Models and a Comprehensive Picture of Reality, The Finnish Society for Natural Philosophy, Helsinki, May 20-21, 2016

Dr. Tuomo Suntola Tuomo Suntola is the father of the Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technology which allows material layer buildup one atomic layer at time. Among many other applications, ALD has become an enabling technology for modern nanoscale semiconductor device manufacturing. Throughout his professional career, Suntola was searching for a holistic perspective to the physical reality – which, in mid 1990s, crystalized to the Dynamic Universe model. Scientific Models and a Comprehensive Picture of Reality, The Finnish Society for Natural Philosophy, Helsinki, May 20-21, 2016 PhD in Electron Physics (1971) at Helsinki University of Technology Scientist at State Research Centre, VTT, 1968-74 Lecturer and Docent at Physics Department in Tampere University of Technology, 1972- Chief Scientist at Instrumentarium Oy, Director of Display Division/Chief Scientist at Lohja Corporation (1974-1987) Managing director of Microchemistry Ltd (1987-97) R&D Fellow at Fortum Corporation, (1997-2004) Founder and Chairman of Physics Foundations Society, 2008-

Lic. Phil. Avril Styrman Post-graduate student, University of Helsinki Forthcoming PhD thesis: Applying the Method of Economical Unification in Metaphysics and Philosophy of Science. The thesis introduces economical unification as a method of philosophical analysis, as an alternative to plain conceptual analysis. In the method, concepts are disambiguated and problems are resolved in the context of an openly explicated minimal and unified world-view or ontology that is philosophically and scientifically sound. Scientific Models and a Comprehensive Picture of Reality, The Finnish Society for Natural Philosophy, Helsinki, May 20-21, 2016

Dr. Ari Lehto PhD in physics 1978, University of Helsinki assistant and lecturer Technology development manager, Vaisala Oyj Research professor, Technical Research Centre of Finland Research director, EVTEK Professor, Aalto University materials science microsystems, theory and technology Scientific Models and a Comprehensive Picture of Reality, The Finnish Society for Natural Philosophy, Helsinki, May 20-21, 2016

Prof. Ilkka Niiniluoto Philosopher and mathematician  Associate professor in mathematics 1973–1981  Philosophical Society of Finland, President 1975-2015  Professor in Theoretical Philosophy 1977-  Acta Philosophica Fennica, Editor-in-chief 1980-  University of Helsinki, Rector 2003–2008  University of Helsinki, Chancellor 2008-2013. Prof. Niiniluoto’s significant contribution to the philosophy of science, particularly to the topic of verisimilitude or truth approximation, is his Truthlikeness, (1987) Synthese Library, Springer. Another notable publication is Critical Scientific Realism, (2002) Oxford, Oxford University Press. Scientific Models and a Comprehensive Picture of Reality, The Finnish Society for Natural Philosophy, Helsinki, May 20-21, 2016

Prof. Atocha Aliseda Professor, National Autonomous University of Mexico, Institute for Philosophical Research at UNAM and National Researcher (level III). Prof. Aliseda has published and edited books and articles on Logic and Philosophy of Science. Her research topics include abductive reasoning and the logics of scientific discovery. Her present interest is in the application of formal models in medical diagnosis. Awards: the "National University Award for Young Academics" in the area of Teaching in the Humanities (UNAM) and the Research Award for Young Scientists of the Mexican Sciences Academy in the area of Research in the Humanities, 2003 Coordinator of the research project "Logics of discovery, Heuristics and Creativity in the science" (PAPIIT- IN400514). Scientific Models and a Comprehensive Picture of Reality, The Finnish Society for Natural Philosophy, Helsinki, May 20-21, 2016

Dr. Janne Karimäki PhD in Physics 2012, University of Oulu Broad range of interest in research: Physics of quantized vortices in superfluids Foundations of Quantum Physics The role of time in Physics and Philosophy Philosophy of Science Scientific Models and a Comprehensive Picture of Reality, The Finnish Society for Natural Philosophy, Helsinki, May 20-21, 2016
